George went too far in a few places. Should've gone harder with the retrofuturistic designs and technology although I like some the designs like the original clone armor having a kind of art deco vibe to it, I also thought all the naboo ships were fantastic. Especially many things from ROTS went way overboard like Grievous, how am I supposed to believe that nigga not only exists in the same world as Vader but also predates his cybernetics

The original trilogy was made so that all ages could enjoy them, so they took themselves seriously and tried to tell a true hero's journey.The prequels were made after George realized just how much money was being made in toy sales, so they were dumbed down and aimed at small kids, with flashing sabers and flips and ninja moves and stupid side characters like jar-jar etc al.The originals were timeless classicsThe prequels were "lets see how much money we can wring out of these stupid kids"Thats why they are derided as much as they are. It was the first big franchise revival apart from maybe Godfather 3, and people expected way too fucking much.Everyone kind of knows now that a sequel produced years down the line probably isn't going to be as good, with miracles like Blade Runner 2049 being few and far between.TFA came out when everyone was jaded, was actually shit, and got a free pass.
