>>221750305>what happened redditbrosRubber halloween masks aren't popular anymore
>>221750305 see this >>221750339 but I'll explain it in more detail:Older horror tapped into the zeitgeist of the age to tell fictional stories about real threats to society. Killers like Freddy and Pennywise played on societies fears of pedophiles, Jason and Michael Myers represented serial killers - real threats that actually exploded in the west after the automobile and atomization of society ushered in an era of psychopaths that had previously been kept in check by technological limitations and strong tight knit communities.Nowadays, the psychos and pedos have taken over every institution and they don't want to rile up the masses with fictional fables about real world threats. If horror today was as honest as it was before 2001 the main monsters would be analogies to mass immigration, guilt based mind control and surveillance, the killer/pedo being in charge of society, etc. But since our rulers don't want us to acknowledge that, they push fake and divisive stories, where we pretend it's your law abiding next door neighbor who is the problem because he's totally a racist or misogynist and you should oppose them!TLDR psy ops

>>221750305Are we pretending that the brainless 80's slop had any value or that people like Poe and Lovecraft and his circle didn't write stories about scary houses, chinamen, and trees?
>>221755303More than just that. Stories of vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and revenants have been around since forever. In fact, it sort if creeps me out that the oldest story we still have - the Epic of Gilgamesh - already makes mention of the dead returning to eat the living.
>>221755665And both mog current slop.Funny how instead of arguing in favor of your shit you can only attack what came before.>>221755745What's unbelievable to me is that noboDy is inventing fucking new monsters. In the 80s we had a new one every week. most of it sucked ass and were forgotten, but some of them emerged and became iconic. What's the excuse now?At elast rediscover some underused shit from legends and myths, like - dunno - a manticor.Stick a rake to redneck and invent the Rakeneck, throw in there some teen with big tits and be done with it.Or some space monster that isn't the goddamn xenomorph or predator
>>221755232>>warwick davis as a rapperKino!
>>221756008I’ve always thought that actual revenants are really underappreciated. We’ve got The Crow and a handful of Creepshow characters. I guess Jason’s also technically a revenant.
>>221756145Revenant is just a vengeful undead, which has margin to be cool, but its really nothing new. As you said Jason counts as a revenant.Crow wan't really a monster.I just want to get out of the vampire-werewolf-zombie-ghost swamp. And no, slight variation don't count. Wendigo are not really different from werewolvesJust invent some shit with a cool creepy/intimidating look, create some cool lore and rules and voilà
>>221756267Wendigo done properly are massively different than werewolves. I recommend the episode of Fear Itself called “Skin and Bones.” It caltures what King was going for in Pet Sematary better than any of the films have. It’s basically a demon that preys on misery. It’s eating you long before it’s even taken the first bite.

>>221750305Sonic.Exe movie when?
>>221750305Aren't you forgetting someone?
>>221756442I think people miss out on the fact that there’s a monster that doesn’t fit neatly into any of the classical categories in Obsession, and it never even appears in the movie. Whether it’s a Djinn, an alien, or some sort of extra-dimensional entity, some force is granting those wishes, and it’s not even actively malevolent. Hell, it doesn’t even seem to be maliciously compliant. No, it seems to be some vastly powerful entity that’s largely indifferent to the effects the wishes have, almost like it’s conducting some sort of psychological experiment. I’d go so far to call it cosmic horror that’s only slightly different than Lovecraft’s. To me, the single creepiest scene in the whole movie was when Bear called “Customer Service” and whatever he was talking to seemed like it could barely be assed to pay attention.
>>221756541I’ve never watched any of these. What’s the QRD on Art?
>>221756367I agree, but most of the times is just a bestial maneating shapeshifter
>>221756550Eh. There is no real monster there. Implied entity doesn't really count.Monkey Paw is a really trite idea. I've read the og short story, seen the simpsons' parody, seen at least a dozen movies based on it and Obsession was just the last one.I mean I liked Obsession, but it really doesn't bring anything new to the table.
>>221756566NtaMe neither but from what I could see it's just a supernatural thing butchering people... and that's all. And the design is lame.A friend of mine who is really into horror was lukewarm about it so I never bothered
>>221753610>i've read a few. it reminds me of when /x/ creepypastas became almost entirely about video games. You have to read the actually good ones from over a decade ago before the subreddit got flooded with mediocre writers. >>221756615I disagree. An entity giving out wishes with seeming indifference to their outcome is, while not exactly new at least insofar as it’s more in line with the traditional genie of the lamp, is definitely not something we’ve seen much. I’m intrigued by “Customer Service.”

The Twilight Zone has a few episodes where "Modern Horror icons" were close to the monster. The internet has become a world of cherry picking to prove your reality is real. No matter if it's real or not.I can basically take 5 clips from Spongebob that prove that Spongebob and Patrick are gay lovers. I can make TikTok and Youtube videos that are titled "Spongebob and Patrick are gay lovers and here's the evidence" and there will be people who just believe that you turn off Spongebob and Patrick is spongefucking Spongebob. >>221751453>>221753610>>221756682Why are you lying? We thought it was a ghost but is actually a real man and men are evil!!!!!"Fuck you pieces of shit. Unironically 2 sentence horror is scarier with "God just announced limited spots left in heaven, parents start killing their children worldwide". That shit is way better than nosleep .

Did you even read the stories I posted? The Tommy Taffy series is about an inhuman horror that invades families and violates them physically, mentally, and psychologically while forcing them to address him as the patrinarch of the family, even though Tommy isn't even human.Dad Tapes is about literal fucking aliens. The cops were investigating and they were all mind broken by the telepathic abilities that the aliens had. The son picks up the case, but he gets mind broken through the evidence itself due to the cognitive hazards within itBorrasca is about a city wide sex trafficking ring that even the cops and judges are in onHow to Survive Hell is a hyper dystopian world that describes hell as a purgatory where there is no food and yet people still need nourishment to survive. And so a cannibalistic society of murderhobos has been established, which takes advantage of the fact that no one can truly die in Hell. Feed the Pig is about a man trapped in purgatory forced to undergo a series of horrific trials to escape and return it the real world.Room 733 is just a classic ghost + haunted house story.Plot Holes is about a guy who notices some discrepancies in reality. He and a friend investigate. But the universe notices and works to erase them before they can unravel the truth.Exactly THREE horror stories I listed were about normal men and women killing people. THREE. Pancake Family, Smiling Man, and Penpal. You didn't even fucking read the stories I listed because pushing your victim complex agenda was more important.

>>221750305Horror tastes change over time. Pic related. It was literally the big horror craze of 1845. The Victorians were pissing themselves over it.
>>221751174nigga, back in the 80s, the whole horror movie genre was slasher flicks because back then, there were lots of Serial Murderers out and about the place. Jeffery Dahmer, The Zodiac Killer, Gary Ridgeway, name it you have it.hat's the inspiration of the epoch.

>>221759409Customer Service isn’t diabolically compliant like Wishmaster. He’ll give you what you ask for without a twist. The only problem is that if, like Bear, you ask for something that's a logical contradiction, he’ll try to give you that, too, sort of like an Ai that renders results in reality.
