Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer got into a feud on the set of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996), one of a dozen severe problems with the production. They got into increasingly petty bickering, and on one morning, the shooting was ready to start for the day, but Brando would not come out of his trailer, saying he wouldn't come out until Kilmer came out of his trailer first. They went to Kilmer, who said HE wouldn't come out until Brando came out of his trailer first. This went on for several hours, while the crew and cast of animal people in full costume sat around, waiting

I don't buy the Penn and Teller bit. They're close, like partners, but they're also old and have worked together forever so the novelty is long gone.
>We’re like two guys who own a 7-11. Now that being said, after 46 years the first person outside of the family to hold my two children was Teller. When my mother and father died, I talked with Teller. When Teller’s mother and father died, he talked to me. I mean the friendship is very deep, but we still don’t socialize that much. We still have our own circle of friends because there’s nothing to say.

Brando and Dennis Hopper were enemies while making Apocalypse Now. Hopper tried to get along with everyone but Brando was having none of it. That scene where he throws a book at him and calls him "Insect" was 90% real.

Denzel has the reputation for not associating with other actors on or off the set. He doesn't hate them, he just ignores them.

chris pratt fell in love with jennifer lawrence on the set of passengers. afaik she wasn't interested and told him so, but he was floating on clouds and thought he had a chance. he'd constantly try to impress her and win her approval. it was obvious to everybody. even in public he couldn't hide it. it led to a meeting between his wife ana, who thought he was cheating, and jennifer. they became friends, then chris and ana got divorced.

i feel bad for the guy because people don't choose who they love i suppose, but even worse for ana. seeing your husband fall in love with another woman must be tough.

watch his face at the end of this clip. notice who he looks at. notice his reaction. he couldn't hide it even on television.

Gregory Peck was a producer on Cape Fear and offered Mitchum the role of Max Cady. Mitchum then proceeded to taunt him throughout the filming telling Peck he "acted him off the scren."
While Peck was filming a particular scene, Mitchum stood behind the camera and dropped his pants to try and distract him. The director J. Lee Thompson said Peck never broke and they actually ended up using this specific take in the final cut.

This one is similar to the Penn and Teller one, Adam's talked about it a shit ton, they're just very different people. They don't hate each other, but people get this weird obsession with duos on TV and they WANT them to be the best of friends. Because they seen't on tee vee.

As a trend breaker you can read about Laurel & Hardy who had an actual best friends partnership, where Stan was completely devastated by Ollie's passing and refused to do any more appearances.

>Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere met in 1974 on the set of THE LORDS OF FLATBUSH, and immediately disliked each other. Stallone claims Gere would "strut around in his oversized motorcycle jacket like he was the baddest knight at the round table" and recalls one particular incident when Gere got "a little carried away" rehearsing a fight scene and tackled him to the ground.

>But things truly came to head when the duo was filming in Coney Island and had to share a car during lunch break, as it was the only place warm enough to eat. Gere was eating "half a chicken covered in mustard" and was warned by Stallone not to spill anything. On the very next bite, what Stallone categorizes as "a small, greasy river of mustard" spilled on his pants. "I elbowed him in the side of the head and pushed him out of the car. The director had to make a choice: one of us had to go". Gere was fired from the movie and replaced by Perry King.

>Stallone affirms Gere resents him to this day for the incident, while Gere avoided discussing it. Stallone also claimed Gere accused him of starting the infamous gerbil rumors, but it seems Sly harbors his fair share of grudges. According to Elton John's autobiography, the pair ran into each other 20 years later during a party thrown by the musician. Princess Diana, then separated from Prince Charles, was in attendance, and Stallone followed her, hoping to pursue an affair, but Diana became taken with Gere. After nearly coming to blows in the hallway, Stallone conceded defeat. Gere enjoyed an "intimate fireplace conversation" with Diana, while Stallone stormed out, muttering “I never would have come if I'd known Prince fuckin' Charming was gonna be here.”

>Sharon Stone and William Baldwin were at odds throughout production of the 1993 thriller SLIVER, in which they played lovers. The veteran Stone frequently mocked relative newcomer Baldwin, and was further incensed when a producer suggested they sleep together to try and develop some chemistry. At one point, during a romantic kissing scene, Stone bit Baldwin's tongue hard enough to render him unable to speak properly for a week. She also aggravated producers by demanding that the original ending, in which her morally gray character blackmails Baldwin's into continuing their relationship after learning Baldwin is a serial killer, be changed so her character doesn't have sex with the villain or end up with Baldwin. These demands came after the studio had already spent a lot of money on the original ending, which involved on-location shooting of a helicopter flying over a volcano, and required them to rework the entire movie to make a secondary character played by Tom Berenger into the real killer. SLIVER is considered to be one of the movie that killed Stone's mainstream career as an A-list actress.

a lot of musicians continue working together even if they hate each other. once you get to a certain level of success, you don't even really have to interact. members of bands on tours will travel separately, stay in different hotels, arrive to venues separately, have separate dressing rooms. they only really see each other on stage, and on stage they're working. it's just business.

>Sylvester Stallone has apparently described his Expendables co-star Bruce Willis as "greedy and lazy" after negotiations broke down over the Die Hard star's role in the third film in the 80s throwback action series.
>With some gusto, Stallone revealed that he had signed another actor to replace Willis in the forthcoming sequel. "WILLIS OUT … HARRISON FORD IN!!!!", he wrote on Twitter. "GREAT NEWS!!!!! I've wondered this myself. It seems like he had massive notoriety & aura in his day. Watching Christopher Reeve talking on a talk show about filming Superman scenes bugged me because I appreciated Reeve far more than Brando. Reeve was very delicately treating Brando like everyone knew him as a movie god when the story was about how Brando was a prick to Reeve. While Searching for the clip there's other Reeve interviews saying Brando sold out & doesn't care anymore.

>Reeve was very delicately treating Brando like everyone knew him as a movie god when the story was about how Brando was a prick to Reeve. While Searching for the clip there's other Reeve interviews saying Brando sold out & doesn't care anymore.
Brando was one of the reasons the Dr Moreau was actually put into production.
Brando got along with Richard Stanley, the director.
Val Kilmer learned when he was flying over to make the film, that his wife was divorcing him, and started being a difficult asshole, but he was unable to quit the film.
Kilmer’s behavior then got Stanley fired, which pissed off Brando, so brando started making life hell for Kilmer, and the producers, and the replacement director.
Frankenheimer was literally brought in to make sure the film got completed, and was paid a couple million dollars or more to do so, and given a two or three picture deal for the privilege.
Frankenheimer put up with Brando’s bullshit because it was necessary to do so to complete the film, but weird as fuck scenes Brando insisted upon, such as the dwarf, dressed like Brando, playing the mini piano while Brando played the large one, are Kino.
Frankenheimer then went on to direst Ronin and Reindeer Games.

They hated each other on set which lead to their on camera arguments being more believable. It also lead to them giving the side characters more screen time so it wasn't just Maddie and David on screen 95% of the time (which was exhausting for them during shooting because of the amount of dialogue the show had)
But they made amends afterwards when they realised how special the show had been.

I've been rewatching Moonlighting recently for the first time since I was a kid and it's such a great show. It should just have ended at season 3. It's like the show hit all the worst stereotypes for a show like this in season 4 and 5. Insane fumble really, but it still has great moments.
Best show ever.

no names. will not confirm. this will not be a revalation to most of you.

an old friend of mine is a stuntman/stunt double for a motherfucking actor that pretty much everybody loves. you know who he is. my old friend has been in a few big marvel films and others and now lives in a big house in la doing the hollywood thing. couldn't be happier for him. anyway, he used to sell drugs in the past. weed and coke. he doesn't anymore, he doesn't need to, but he knows people that do, and who they sell it to.

let's just say that it's almost certain that whoever your favourite actor/actress is is a cokehead. whoever it is. meryl streep, bill murray, amy adams, anya taylor joy, zendaya, tom holland. whoever it is. cocaine is still handed out like candy in hollywood and is seldom refused. along with an evergrowing list of pills with names worth 100's on a scrabble board.

Speaking of Spartacus, Lesley Ann Brandt left the Spartacus show because she wasn't given more money. Manu Bennett, nicest guy in every interview, said she was a diva who made everything about herself. I think what rubbed them the wrong way wasn't the money issue, but that she did it when the show was on hold because the lead actor was literally dying of cancer. Apparently her attitude hasn't changed, and the credits speak for themselves.

>Has this happened in any other cases? I mean a married actor/ess falling in love with a co-star only for it all to collapse spectacularly?
During the first 50 Shades of Grey Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson got on very well and after Dakota was dumped by her musician boyfriend at the time, I think this was 2016 so when they were filming the sequels, Dornan's wife and mother of their newborn insisted on being present during the entire shooting and started fights with Dakota to force Jaime to take her side. Sometimes it spilled out into the public like during some awards show in 2017 when Jaime and Dakota were supposed to appear together to promote the sequel but Jaime's wife kept him away from Dakota the entire time and people saw Dakota being miserable during the event.
Of course some of this is probably 50 Shades of Grey shippers wishcasting, same deal as the Twilight shippers when Pattinson and Stewart where in that very public relationships and then breakup.

This is true but disingenuous.

Shatner and Nimoy were immensely close for a long time but they had a falling out because of Bill's drinking. But once Bill met his new wife and cleaned up, he and Nimoy were best friends for like 30 years straight.
But sadly, once Nimoy started getting dementia, he completely turned on Bill. He would go into fits when he was even mentioned. Bill didn't attend his funeral for that reason, out of respect. But it's just sad, really, because Nimoy wasn't really himself.

The only Star Trek cast member that hates Shatner is that old faggot George Takei who is just hungry for the spotlight.

>The documentary about it is kino. Stanley was a fucking weirdo...had some strange eclectic talent but was in way over his head especially after they chose a hellhole filming location.
Yes, Richard Stanley is weird.
Blaming the filming fiasco on him is a bit of an issue though.
Stanley’s mother was an anthropologist who tookStanley around while she studied primitive tribes and religions.
Stanley himself snuck off to Afghanistan during the Russian Invasion, and he hung out with the Mujahideen, until one of his companions was injured by a rocket.
During this his oassport was stolen, he though by an Afghani, but it was later discovered on one of the other Europeans he was traveling with, when the guy was found dead in a cheap hotel room.
Stanley later went yo Haiti during one of the US invasions, and got the US Colonel in charge on tape, saying the invasion was s religious war, resulting in the Colonel being relieved of duty.
He had directed two separate movies, with actors you have probably heard of, or seen, before landing the Dr. Moreau film, and the budget on that was simply much higher, because Marlon Brando signed on, and then Val Kilmer signed on because of Brando.

>Marlon was a practical joker, but would always try to remain anonymous and act like he was above such things. One day while filming Superman (1978) Chris (Reeve) arrived on set absolutely furious, and when I asked him what was wrong, he pointed right at Brando and said "..it was HIM! HE did it! He's the one!". While Brando stood there looking at Chris nonplussed, I took him aside and asked him to explain what was going on, and he told me that somebody had been sneaking into his trailer, using his toilet, and leaving an enormous load of human waste for Chris to find later, which would then end up polluting his entire trailer. He said he thought it might have been one of the crew, so he had Dick (Liebegott) keep an eye on his trailer for him while he was on set. After filming that day, Chris returned to his trailer, and once again, his toilet was absolutely destroyed to the point of needing maintenance to come and unclog it, and when he talked to Dick, he told him the only person he saw entering the trailer was none other than Marlon Brando himself. When confronted by Chris, Marlon denied everything, was completely indignant, and threatened to leave the set unless I managed to not only control Chris, but make him apologize. This took some convincing, but I finally managed to get everyone calmed down, Chris apologized, and we got back to work. Though he vehemently denied it, I believe it was indeed Brando who was destroying Chris's toilet, as after the on set incident, it stopped.

NOBODY, tops Brando for abject fuckery. NOBODY.

>Brando was very competitive, and in 1968 he appeared at a party celebrating Oscar nominations in which Paul Newman was in attendance with his wife Joanne Woodward. Brando approached Newman and began a conversation that eventually became very heated, resulting in Brando being heard shouting at Newman "You're a phony!" and walking away.
>Later that evening Brando stood on a table and challenged Newman to an egg eating contest, which was what the character Newman played in "Cool Hand Luke" was depicted doing in his recent film. Newman ignored this challenge.
>Undeterred, Brando had somebody from his entourage bring him dozens of hard boiled eggs, and started the competition without Newman. He kept count loudly as he ate the eggs, while mocking and insulting Newman constantly, "21 Newman! 21 eggs! You can't eat 21 eggs Newman! You're a phony, and I'm better than you Newman!"
>Eventually, Brando consumed 51 eggs before being removed from the party, 1 more than Newman's character did in Cool Hand Luke. As he was being escorted out, he reportedly said "I beat you Newman! 51 eggs! You couldn't eat 51 eggs Newman, because you're a phony. I'm better than you Newman and I always will be! Don't you ever forget that!"

You're leaving out one major point of weirdness; after being fired from the film, Richard Stanley did not board the flight out of Australia the studio chartered for him, instead he disappeared into the fucking jungle for about six weeks. He was living in someone's literal hut, subsiding off foraged food and supplies, and snuck back onto set a couple of times, including one time where the stunt team members playing the animal people helped sneak him into wardrobe where he was dressed in one of their costumes and appeared among the extras during a day of filming, and may very well be in shots that made the final film.

Also Brando as per usual wouldn't learn his lines so he had them fed to him during takes on an earpiece, which kept picking up radio chatter from police scanners so he would suddenly repeat police communication in the middle of his lines.

>Hoffman has been widely reported to have harassed Streep during the making of the film, and the two had a contentious working relationship. In a 1979 Time magazine interview, Streep claimed that Hoffman groped her breast on their first meeting, although a representative for Streep said the article was not "an accurate rendering of that meeting". When Streep advocated portraying Joanna as more sympathetic and vulnerable than she was written, she received pushback from Hoffman. According to one unauthorized biography of Streep, such was Hoffman's commitment to method acting, he would hurl insults and obscenities at Streep, taunt her with the name of her recently deceased fiancé, John Cazale, claiming it was designed to draw a better performance from her. He famously shattered a wine glass against the wall without telling her (only informing the cameraman beforehand to keep shooting), sending glass shards into her hair. Her response was, "Next time you do that, I'd appreciate you letting me know." In 2018, Streep claimed that Hoffman slapped her hard without warning while filming a scene. "This was my first film, and it was my first take in my first film, and he just slapped me. And you see it in the film. It was overstepping."

I don’t take these stories verbatim and often learn it’s the opposite.
The people complaining and spreading gossip are the problem.
Like imagine if you believed a certain guy who is going to be on TV tonight’s opinion on anyone.

Ace Ventura was kino, The Cable Guy is good too
but all his other ''comedy'' is low IQ trash

It's not just a 4chan thing, but universal. Both the left and right will easily latch onto stories that affirm their beliefs. It makes them feel good about themselves.

Believing that a TV character they loved is actually a psycho in real life does the opposite. It makes them question their ability to judge other peoples character, and thus makes them feel bad about themselves. So they become more resistant to believing it.

Eh, people who are salty towards /pol/ are often reddit tier people. Truth is /pol/ is often right, also what you dont seem to realize is a mass majority of threads on /pol/ is bot/shill/troll driven (in that order) So it seems like people are just accepting stuff at face value when you are just accepting /pol/ at face value

Because workplace sitcoms have brainwashed people into thinking they must befriend their colleagues, so if you don't that can only mean that you hate them.

His best movies were where he didn't abjectly try to be him: Eternal Sunshine is his best; followed by Trueman Show, which was ok; then the biopic about that guy from Taxi whom I had no idea who he was, but his performance as an eccentric comedian was good.

It was more they were two alphas who clashed, but I think they used it all to their advantage. The door slamming was real (so much they had to reinforce the set) it fueled the fiery arguments of the script. Bruce was absolutely killing it while Cybill at that point (like her character) used to be the hottest one around, but now she's literally crawling in dirt doing slapstick bits. Maddie Hayes was very much like Mickey Rourke's character in the Wrestler, where it was pretty much his own story he was playing. Same with Cybill doing Maddie. They were both perfect cast
>>221790691
So the last episode of season 3 when they finally REALLY get each other? or one of the earlier ones where they also hook up?
Still pretty funny. The finally of season 3 is pretty intense where she slaps him really hard and he then grabs her hand and "be my baby" starts playing as they finally embrace. (just to have the payoff immediately killed off in season 4 because the writers fucked everything up)
>>221802814
Yeah, they had a lot of themed episodes that were really well done. The black and white one in particular. I watched some behind the scenes stuff and the guy who wrote the music for the episode watched what "notes" Bruce was playing (who had only had a bit of practice with a pro to make it look real before shooting) and wrote the music to fit the notes he could be playing with the finger positions on the trumpet.
That's the level of dedication the crew had to the show.
It was one of the best episodes of the whole series. Funny dialogue with great timing and delivery.
The show has obviously aged poorly in some aspects and is very much a mid-lte 80's time capsule (I love that. Particularly 80's office decor), but it generally still feels very "modern" and fresh because of all the fast dialogue. My older siblings watched it while it was airing and said the show totally stood out from other stuff on tv at the time.

Chris got him back later on. In numerous interviews after he was very uncomplimentary of Brando, saying he was very unpleasant and unprofessional. You can find the one on Letterman from the early '80's on YouTube.

I knew I'd seen her before, she's the blonde girl from Taxi Driver.

Well, now I understand why she had an inflated ego during the filming of the series. Bruce was a complete unknown back then.Imagine being overshadowed by an unknown despite having been in a cult film like TD.

I met Jaden Smith once at an airport, very weird.

He sat behind me whilst we were waiting for the gate to start accepting passengers and he leans towards me and asks me "Hey, you got a pen?".

He sounded very normal and charming, very confident. So I gave him a pen that I had strapped to my notebook and this was years ago when he had that huge afro and he took the pen and put it in his hair and it completely disappeared.
I was so fucking confused and I never got that pen back. It was too awkward to ask for it back, seems like he was trying to impress a random stranger with his "craziness" or something.

The entire arts industry is made up of eccentrics. If they were all normies, it would be the quality of a local high school play or parents show, which you wouldn't go to see unless your child was in it or you're a perv. No one would watch movies if actors weren't like that.
