When did you stop watching Dr Who? I did after Series 13, at that point I’d stopped caring
>>
I stopped halfway through the Tenant era and it looks like it's only gone downhill since then.
>>
I liked femdoctor actually

But I already checked out of DW around Capaldi
>>
>>221781720
I watched the first Jodie episode and realised I’d outgrown the show. That was almost a decade ago

Wish I did that, the whole series after Capaldi was a waste of time, not even so bad it’s good

When Smith became the Doctor (and Moffat the showrunner), he’s just too cringe for me
>>
>>221781867
Capaldi was my favourite so if he stuck around longer maybe I would’ve too. But even still the show was getting too cartoon-y and cringe for me

Capaldis first episode. I was planning on giving him a shot, but not even halfway into the first episode I just had to tap out.
>August 23, 2014
Which means I haven't seen any Doctor Who new or old in over a decade now. Looking back it was probably the first thing I just said "okay no more of this now" to.

Fair, I don’t think the show ever took itself massively seriously, but it did get a lot more cringe towards the end
>>221781932
Peter Capaldi’s run did have some peak
>>
>>221781720
I got fatigue somewhere around the end of Matt Smith's term, didn't continue after he wrapped up.
>>
>>221781720
Part way through Capaldi, around the time the lesbian lizard woman showed up. I'd been growing more dissatisfied since near the start of Clara's run but tolerated it until lesbian lizard.
>>
Stupidity and momentum kept me watching all the way until the end of Capaldi's run. Should have dropped it when Clara left, Bill was so shit.
>>
The black one. The gay black one. So this most recent season? Did it last 2 seasons? It was so bad. Worse than Jodie Whitacer. It was so bad. Space Babies? Beyond belief

>>
>>221781720
I started with the episode where the mannequins were aliens and I stopped at the episode where aliens were disguised as humans but were farting all the time. I don't feel I got much out of Doctor Who honestly
>>
>>221781720
I stopped watching after Whitaker regenerated into Tennant.
Whitaker's era is decidedly mediocre, but it did enough things that I liked to keep me watching. Regenerating into Tennant was the point I was like "Oh, okay, nevermind". Doesn't help that Disney are pants on head retarded and disrupted the BBC/ABC pact so it was the first time in history that Doctor Who wasn't available on free to air TV in Australia
>>
>>221782551
i was getting bored during capaldi era i guess but i stuck with it. i kind of had a thing for woman doctor when she was in that other show about her kid got raped off a cliff or whatever with doctor david big dick as the cop, i thought well shes ok and i fucking hate women crying all the time which is all she did in that show so maybe she'll be good in who but i was bored to death by it so i just gave up. and then the doctor turned into a gay black guy and i was like huh interesting. definitely not going to get me to start watching it again but interesting.
>>
>>221781720
When Capaldi showed up and it stopped being about adventures in time and space and started being about clara oswald's love life drama.

The female doctor, though my enthusiasm was definitely already waning by the end of Capaldi. I gave the Jodi era a few episodes, but it just wasn't holding my attention at all. Way too many companions at once, too.

I watched until Capaldi left, gave Jodi the usual 4 episodes of grace to see if she managed to find her footing but that was a waste of time. The episodes were just terrible so i dropped it. I reckon the cut should be at Capaldi making his way back to Gallifrey though. It was rushed and messy and the hybrid was entirely mediocre but it was an ending.

Stopped regularly at The Thin Ice. You know why.
Saw like two episodes of Jody. Have not seen a single Tennant 2 or Shooty, and don't particularly care to. they look insufferably naff and gay.
>>
>>221781821
Would you have felt like you'd outgrown it if it wasn't shit?
>>
>>221785612
The entire Rosa Parks episode during Jodie was a lot more offensive than that throwaway line in Thin Ice
>>
Just kinda got bored of it when they refused to have any side characters die just makes everything feel so low stakes and phoney.
They even started saying like
>no one dies when the doctor's around!!
Yeah much better than the weeping angels or the "who turned off the lights" scene.
Kinda wish the guy went "oh no I got attacked but I'm alive I thought the lights were off but I see it was only the effect of being attacked by this here alien thing or whatever let's all make it out of this episode" and they they just waved their magic wand and the threat disappeared without any excitement.
>>
>>221785762
I didn't see that episode. I saw the one with Lenny Henry. I can remember literally nothing about it. I also saw the India one, which was like fine I guess, in spite of being incredibly bland and feeling like a C tier RTD episode.

I think right when capaldi took over. My wife got into it so I saw maybe 2or 3 iterations of the dr but I wasn’t very invested. We would typically end up having sex, so I can’t remember a lot of the stuff we would watch during that period.

For Nu Who there's a two main jumping on points
>Rose (2005) First episode of Nu Who
>The Eleventh Hour (2010) Matt Smith's first episode and the start of Moffat's era
For Classic Who just pick a Doctor that looks interesting and watch some of their stories. Don't try watching them all in order unless you really want to, because you will get burnt out

it depends to what degree you like slightly rickety old sci-fi shows.
The 70's stuff is a lot more approachable than the 60's stuff, and the 80's stuff is kind of a fascinating trainwreck.
The TV movie is also kind of a fascinating trainwreck.
Eccleston is good, and then the rest of the reboot happens.

Four's secondary interior if only it had an actual time rotor. Otherwise it has to be Eleven's first interior. It's so wonderfully asymmetrical and alien. Capaldi. I was really looking forward to a change with the actor, but the writing started to vacillate.

Understand, that with *so much canon* already thrown overboard, the boring static companions and then the Jodi thing just killed the franchise.

They're terrified of making it genuinely dark after the backlash against the first Capaldi series.
The BBC seems to be married to the idea now that DW is some kind of "life affirming" show about kind of intergalactic social worker going around and being everyone's best friend, and frankly that's not what DW is.
>>
>>221791908
>They're terrified of making it genuinely dark after the backlash against the first Capaldi series.

they gotta make a Doctor Who reboot 'NuNuWho' ( reference to New New York )

Where the Doctor wakes up deep in the Tardis without much of his memories and has to reclaim his TARDIS. And there's a mysterious woman in this maze who is the TARDIS herself. And he loves her.
>>
>>221791941
tumblr spazzed out and didn't want to admit they were only into Tennant and Smith because they wanted to fuck them, and then they made up all kinds of copes about the show being "mean spirited" and "toxic". We're still living in the aftermath of that.

About halfway through Capaldi, I remember it really dropping off after Series 9. I think when Bill showed up.
I've been binging nuWho with my girlfriend who had quit before Smith finished and my god Series 8 fucking sucks. The heavy handed, hypocritical blatant anti-soldier rhetoric in every damn episode is getting really tiresome. We wait for it to pop up and groan every time it's mentioned, which is every episode. I get that apparently it was happening around the time of the UK in Afghanistan and people were mad, but fuck, it just comes across as mean spirited now. I just wanted to show her Heaven Sent and River's final episode but I don't think we'll make it through these badly written, heavily opinionated stories.
>>
>>221787371
Especially after Heaven Sent. What a letdown. I just stop watching after Heaven Sent now, pretend the whole series ends on the cliffhanger that he finally rediscovers Gallifrey.
>>
Nuwho faggots are pathetic and I laugh at them
>>
Nuwho retards think that version of the Doctor is the ideal and when it deviates they have a meltie
>>
>>221791825
I would've liked a longer run with Eccleston even though he supposedly wanted nothing to do with it and they were starting to do the "I'M THE DOCTOR AND I'M THE GREATEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE" crap with him. Which I guess to be fair can probably be traced back to Tom Baker. Even with Pertwee's chop socky it wasn't really until Tom Baker that the Doctor started acting like nothing can touch him. It's easier to just write off with Tom Baker as the Doctor putting on a front and shielding himself again similar to how Troughton acts extra retarded to make people underestimate him but sadly I think I stuck and just kinda became part of the character. But even with Tom Baker you can get some amusing bits like Romana knowing stuff he doesn't, etc. The general point being it's the sum of the Doctor's parts that makes him and he doesn't always have to be the biggest genius in the room EVEN THOUGH THAT'S ALSO SOMETHING THAT TENDS TO GET LOST GOD DAMN IT

NEVER WEED A WEED AND THEN START INCREASINGLY ANGRILY TRY TO TALK PASSIONATELY ABOUT DOCTOR WHO ANON IT'S A RECIPE FOR DISASTER ALL I KNOW IS TROUGHTON BEST DOCTOR
>>
>>221787772
Just finished Spearhead from Space and starting The Silurians. I've noticed a lot of Pertwee's stories are 6+ episodes. Do they mostly keep up the momentum or is it lazy padding (War Games nearly broke me with the back and forth but a very satisfying ending pulled it back from the brink)
>>
>>221781720
I was only up to s10 so I recently DL everything again and got up to s13 and it went so downhill with her, I just gave up. Shame I really wanted to see the ending.
