Masters of the Universe is the Best Flop of the Year
>>
>>221790725
One of the very few films I've walked out of the theater on. Not sure what I was expecting but it became one of the worst movies I've seen in my adult life from just the first half hour. The absolute epitome of slop.
>>
>>221790725
I enjoyed it a lot. I dunno why people on here hate it so much. The hate feels very forced
>>
>>221790725
It was way too silly they should have cut out half of the humor
>>
Que trolazo
>>
>>221792360
it reminded me of wonder woman, only it was for men
>>
>>221793034
Queer eye for the all-inclusive guy humor
>>
>>221792860
>hate feels very forced

Movie is the very definition of corposlop.
>>
>>221792360
This. When they started making fun of pronouns and female HR office culture, I collected all my dildos and stormed out of there!
>>
>>221790725
Best cinematic flop of the year, best flop of the year across all mediums is Luna Abyss
>>
>>221793270
What movies aren't?
>>
>>221790725
Did they even play a cover of "What's Goin' On"?
>>
>>221794214
The music selection is a big indicator of just how little they gave a damn.
>>
>>221794214
>>221794262
this song was the only good thing about he movie

I really enjoyed it. Felt like the perfect tone for adapting the 80s version. The action scenes were surprisingly well edited, and I liked the lead a lot. A shame it flopped.
>>
>>221793034
That's actually a good analogy. I was really laughing about how ridiculously over the top they went with how macho all of the king's guard and skeletor's minions are. Lost it at
>that's the sword of power? I thought it'd be bigger
>it just looks that way because my hand is so big
>>
>>221792860
Yeah I enjoyed it even if it had some flaws. Similar to the Dungeons and Dragons movie.
>>
>>221794640
Fight scenes were pretty good. The casting and acting was decent.

It was just a by-the-numbers hero story, though, that we've see 100 times now. The music was cringe as fuck.
>adam asks what's going on
>what's going on starts playing
The Earth stuff was lame as hell and really slowed the movie down.

>The Earth stuff was lame as hell and really slowed the movie down.
The scene in the comic book store was great. I thought the flashback to Adam's youth was longer than it needed to be but that's all I would have cut. Well maybe the gym scene with Dolph. That felt gratuitous.
>>
>>221794891
Just seemed like a lame way to resolve him finding the sword. Some random dude calls him up and tells him where it is. I can't decide if it would have been better without it completely or if they should have spent more time on it.
>>
>>221792860
No one here watched it. Basically any praise or hate it gets is from people pretending to have seen it
>>
>>221790725
Should have gone full kids movie , like PG cgi cartoon
or slashed the budget and gone R rated adult movie with blood/violence (have it be a throw back to straight to VHS 80s fantasy films)
>>
>>221796120
it should look stupid and funny like the cartoon but be adult and the actors play it straight
>>
it was fun
>>
>>221793275
they didn't do that

I was really enjoying it, but once the chase scene in the ship starts, it really begins to feel like CGI slop. The only good scenes after it are when he hears his father's dying words and when Skeletor decides to go into Adam's memories.

It was literal garbage. They should have taken the material more seriously, instead of endless stupid quips and jokes.
>>
>>221796939
I hated the movie when it opened and there was some stupid kid who couldn't act and some guy telling him cliched things like pick yourself up when you fall.
>>
>>221797036
>have taken the material more seriously
the material being a fantasy cartoon for 5 year olds made 40 years ago to sell them toys
>>
>>221794765
Honestly thats probably the best comparison for what MOTU was. A very obviously flawed film where the script was mid but the actual work that went into designs and sound were genuinely done out of love and respect for the source material.
Like fuck I expected MOTU to be absolute dogshit and came back surprisingly satisfied more than most capeshit and especially Supergirl, which might be the worst film I've sene in 9 years.
>>
>>221797092
hey, the 1990 Ninja Turtles movie and 1987 Masters of the Universe were aimed at more mature audience compared to their cartoon/toy lines. Any fan of He-Man is literally in his 40s at least, they should have made it fucking R-rated and Teela should have been naked.
>>
>>221797201
>Any fan of He-Man is literally in his 40s at least, they should have made it fucking R-rated
back in the day they would have, but now they have to apeal to everyone and thats why everything is dog shit
>>
>>221796939
>>221797036
Spkepetor thinking Adam being in "human resources" meamt he was running a slaver's guild or something made me laugh.
>>
Sadly yes it's a great film. It's going to be one a cult classic.
>>
>>221797201
>>221797246
They wanted the middle aged he-man fans to take their kids to see it. There was clearly some of that at the screening I went to, but its just not that big of an ip to justify a $200M marvel style movie.
>>
>>221797347
I think it was bad timing.
Put this out when MCU stuff was actually popular and it would have made 600 million.
These type of films are a lot less popular than they used to be just a few years ago.
>Its an old IP
the basic premise "buff guy fights weird monster men on an alien planet" is a basic enough premise that you don't really need to know the original toy line/cartoon to understand it

is this the best movie this year? I don't give a fuck
>>
>>221797499
Best flick of the yaar so far. Maybe Odyssey will be the better flick but I doubt it
>>
>>221794214
Any he-man movie that doesn't use Snap!'s the power during he-mans during a fight as he-man doesn't deserve to succeed
>>
>>221797499
This and minions 3
>>
>>221794726
That seems funny.
>>
>>221796887
Did you skip the first 20 minutes of the movie?
>>
>>221796887
They literally did, though I guess comically obvious HR caricatures are too subtle these days
