The only uncomfy part of thos film is when John Goodman shows up for his first scene.

i'm gonna @ you to say that i agree with you, one of the best soundtracks of all time too
>>

I hate George Clooney as an actor but I must say he was really really good in this role.

Honestly I must be rusty on the poem but I genuinely couldn't tell how this was an "adaptation", even in a loose sense
There are some obvious references, such as the suitor(s), the cyclops, the sirens and poseidon... But beyond that, it really didn't seem to have much to do with The odyssey
>>

>>noooo an adaptation has to be shot by shot
>>
>>221792046
allegedly they made the film without actually reading the odyssey and just pieced together whatever references to it they remembered
>>
>>221791233
It's pure, unadulterated kino

My favorite reference is also one of the subtler ones. Being back in prison is treated as “the underworld,” and when they see Pete on the road crew and again in the theater, it’s an allusion to the shades Odysseus encounters in Hades, specifically Elpenor and Agamemnon.

Nolan’s an idiot who thinks he’s smart. The Coens are smart guys who wish they were idiots.

This movie is based and so is OP
>>
for me it’s Ice Age because it’s an anti-odyssey bc the main characters’ discovery comes from finding someone else’s home
