Funny thing is, Nolan has the money but he’s so full of himself he is convinced all his shots are done in one take. Despite being shot in IMAX or whatever the shots are lack finesse, they are lazy garbage. The editing is bad but is the best you can do with something so awful. Most of his stuff is salvaged in the editing room with ridiculous editing and music

The correct way to appreciate a film is on a small CRT monitor using grainy VHS footage where several minutes at the beginning are so worn you can't see or hear anything.
This is how we enjoyed our kino back in the day. You cannot comperehdn the true power of cinema if you think bigger screens somehow makes movies better.

Total budget is listed at $375M. Marketing accounts for $125M of that. As director, producer, and screenplay writer, Nolan's upfront salary was $20M plus 20% of the gross box office take. The crew credits list an additional 15 producers, assistant producers, line producers, visual effects producers, etc. If we assume each is getting an average of a million dollars that's another $15M.

Damon, Holland, and Hathaway are all rumored to have accepted between $10-15M each, and Zendaya, Bernthal, Page, Pattinson, and the other major supporting cast are all believed to have accepted $3-5M. So including extras and shit, put the cast payroll at maybe ~$45-$70M

Per Vanity Fair, the total cost of IMAX raw film negative was ~$3M and the team paid $80K per to send film prints to those IMAX theaters still using film projectors (~40 theaters). So call that another $3.2M. Other reports state they used 26 IMAX cameras modified to use a new lower profile, sound dampening body dubbed the Keighley mod, at an estimated $500K per unit, so that's another $1.3M.

That puts our total accounted for so far at $212.5-237.5M. Between 57-63% of the total budget.

Now, for more bullshitty estimates, let's just fucking call it $10M each for travel, equipment, props, animatronics/puppets, costumes, lodging, catering. That's $70M. Probably an underestimate on some things, overestimate on others, but whatever.

That leaves us with maybe $60-80M for all remaining visual effects.

Have they given up on trying to make decent circuses to distract people? Or has shit gotten so bad that only the biggest retards are left to make movies and everyone just has to play along with them? I think I know where most of the budget for this shit show went, outside of the marketing budget they needed to compensate the Damon and whoever else isn’t some retarded diversity hire or B list marvel trash actor.

I helped a friend who was directing some community theater shit a few years back, and we choreographed a fight scene for it and it was the fucking most fun ever - I don't remember the name of the play, some shitty drama written by some local faggot for a one act play contest, but the climax of the play is two guys getting into a fist fight over the one guy's wife, and it goes on for like a good solid minute or two as they tire each other out. My friend went all out with the production, he had some breakaway furniture made for me and the other guy to smash into and over each other, some resin bottles and plates we could safely break. We had so much fun getting into the fight scene and doing the choreography, it was awesome.

The night of the performance came and since we were only doing the one show, I went up to him backstage and I told him that when the part comes where he takes a swing at me, to just go ahead and throw the punch, no pulling or trying to punch passed my face, just go for it. He said nah, and like a fucking retard I said no man, it'll be great. So when the time came he fucking decked me. Hurt like a motherfucker (I don't know what the fuck I expected), so when it was my turn to punch back of course I threw a real punch too, and, well, one thing led to another and we got a little carried away and he sort of Baned me into the breakaway table.

In fairness, we didn't veer *that* far off script and the show finished fine. Neither of us was seriously hurt and we both laughed it off after the show. My friend who was directing it was super pissed off at me though.

The final battle at the end of Fellowship is overrated. It’s the first time Aragorn chooses to do a bizarre divebomb attack into danger, without receiving any consequences, and it quickly becomes a trademark for the character. I never see it scrutinised enough, even though it’s of a similar level of stupidity to all of Legolas’s stunts. Screaming “Elendil” at the top of your lungs doesn’t magically make a suicidal action survivable.

And then Legolas shoots an Uruk Hai and there’s a honking clown nose noise. Why does everyone (rightly) trash the Burly Brawl from the Matrix for the bowling ball sound effect but let this off the hook?

Boromir’s last stand is hard carried by the score. Sean Bean gives a really underwhelming performance from a fight choreography perspective, but that’s hardly supposing given Bob Anderson chose to give him almost nothing to do except repeated left right horizontal slashes.

The scene is hard carried by Aragorn vs Lurtz, and then immediately ruined by the people you are watching with all giving you the associated fun fact. Fellowship may have the least Hacksonian elements but it’s far from pure.

ever see a mouse move? how about an elephant? it's a well known fact that bigger organisms move slower than smaller ones
>>
>>221805478
It's not that, it's about speed in comparison to body size. A mouse moving at 20mph will seem much faster than an elephant moving at the same speed because it covers the distance of its own body at a greater rate. That's why it seems like large structures and buildings seem like they're moving in slow motion when they fall or collapse.

Unironically The Witcher is the only recent piece of media I can think of with even semi-decent choreography. It's a bit exaggerated and relies on CGI blood and editing a bit too often, but ultimately the end result is fast-paced, energetic, brutal, and memorable for more right reasons than wrong.
Shame the writing that takes up 90% of the show is so fucking awful.

I can't forget how stupid I felt after watching Oppenheimer. Expect to some of the impact caused by the most catastrophic weapon and deadliest event in history of this world. be honest, wast his any better? Choreography in all of Nolan's films sucks, he's obsessed with it being 'grounded' which apparently means massively telegraphing attacks, insuring the audience sees every movement like its slow motion and showing zero damage inflicted.

The crew finds an island with cattle but Odysseus tells them they arent allowed to eat them because they belong to Helios. They end up stuck on the island for a long enough time that the crew kills and eats the cattle while Odysseus is asleep. He wakes up and is pissed but they are able to leave the island. Helios gets salty and tells Zeus to do something and Zeus completely destroys the ship, killing everyone except Odysseus, who floats to an island where Calypso finds him and falls in love with him, keeping him on the island for seven years until Athena tells Zeus to tell Calypso to free him, which she does and after they make a ship out of his broken one.

Ever see an 7-8 foot basketball player move? They aren't retarded slow. And Usain Bolt is 6'5. These giants are only 2x taller than a human so they shouldn't be moving in exaggerated cartoony slow motion. This looks completely unnatural. These lumbering idiots should have been destroyed by an organized phalanx with spears into their exposed faces. And no one should be getting hit with how much they telegraph their attacks. Also, the plastic "plate" armor also looks completely RIDICULOUS. Nolan is a buffoon who is high on sniffing his own farts.

Anon the full camrips are leaked, you can form your own opinion.

But as a favour I'll give you a bit of free advice:
Culture wars are marketing. They didn't cast Nigger Helen because they believed it would change the world. They did it because it would make chuds mad. Angry chuds would talk about it, spreading word of mouth. Liberals would catch the osmosis and form their opinion of the movie entirely based on the fact that racist chuds hate it and go buy tickets. The fake controversy eclipses all actual controversial topics, like the fact that the movie is shit or looks terrible so by the time it's on the big screen all anybody knows about it is which side of the culture war they're supposed to be on. Making people who won't pay to watch it mad turns the disinterested into active participants in the advertising campaign, increasing your effective cultural capitalization. Social media algorithms run on controversy, so you have to concoct a controversy to get proper exposure.
A small minority of midwits here are actually angry and got lost on their way to /pol/, but the overwhelming majority of culture warfare on /tv/, twitter and everywhere else is viral marketing from paid sockpuppets. These are not real people sharing real opinions, they're just churning the whirlpool hoping you get sucked in.

It's Nolan again. Garbage. Some only praise him because a decade of abominable movies makes him seem good in comparison.

But of course if you point any of this out you're just nitpicking and you cant enjoy anything

No Anon, it's not just you. Nolan is easily the most overrated director of all time. I never understood what people saw in his work. I agree that Inception was probably his best film out of the ones I've seen, and yet I found it completely forgettable. It wasn't boring to watch but nothing about it was compelling enough to have stuck with me. Dark Knight was also pretty decent, but 100% due to the performers. The actual story was again quite forgettable in my opinion.

I think the cult that has grown around his films is what drives his success. It allows pseudo-intellectual midwits to talk about their refined tastes and pretend to be sophisticated film critics.
