Legit don't understand why they are so obsessed with making Peach the main character and sidelining Mario and Luigi.
>>
Come on, you know why.
>>
>>221799232
It's just the Zelda effect where they try to overcorrect a damsel in distress character so hard that they write her as a man and make the man either feminine or incompetent
>>
Because she's a nothing character without a single real defining trait beyond "friendly princess", which means the lazy writers just use the generic independent Disney Princess template
>>
>>221799232
Did we watch the same movie? Peach is barely even in Galaxy. The movie movie story follows THE BROS around and she's a supporting character.
>>
>>221799232
Uhh Cuckiosissies...
>>
Because that's just how you write girls in cartoons. I doubt it goes any deeper than that. 3D Animation has just been remaking Shrek over and over for 25 years, it's become automatic for them by now.
>>
>>221799307
When did that ever happen in Zelda?

haven't seen Galaxy but the answer is merch. I worked in retail selling party supplies for years and to this day, Frozen is still a top 3 despite there not being a movie for years. Classic Disney princesses are still huge, minnie mouse, Moana, etc.
parties for girls drove like 80% of our sales compared with 20% for boys, who the parents would tend toward more generic settings like colours or vague themes like sport, Minecraft/vidya. Our licensed merch was insanely expensive compared with generics but parents felt the insistence to buy specific for their daughters only.

Women drive consumer spending and are merch machines. The sole reason Nintendo/Illumination would have chosen to make Galaxy the followup is because of Rosalina/Peach/Daisy, they would be desperate to tap into even a drop of that Frozen goldmine.

They are also going to boost Zelda as a heroine for girls, not to pander to wokeism or Blackrock funding or whatever but for the merch sales

what came to me was peach being playable in the doki panic of 82, the game based on arabians
mario panic 2 has toads wearing the traditional arabian outfit, they found peach before super mario bros panic doki 2.
she wore it in the flashback, toads wear it all the time, they supersede overalls

didnt the game use to be called a link in time or something then they changed it to zelda?
>>
>>221805966
No. There was a game called Link to the Past, but the series was always named Zelda.
>>
>>221799232
Because boys and men aren't allowed to have a heroes journey story anymore. It's too misogynistic
>>
>>221799341
She could have been competent, similar to how she's portrayed in things like Mario Rpg (powerful but not Mary Sue levels). But the insecure feminists won't tolerate anything less than perfection in all things compared to men
>>
>>221807817
Mario 1993 is genuinely a better movie. Mario and Luigi actually have chemistry together
>>
>>221802618
Always called legend of Zelda. But link was always the main hero that saved the day, at least until Ocarina of Time when they started giving Zelda grrlboss skills
>>
>>221808545
Love that movie. I was a kid when it came out so obviously was biased and found it great (because Mario in theater). However even by todays standards it's a fun movie for the time and Dennis Hopper hammed it up beautifully
>>
>>221799232
frozen
>>
>>221803527
>playable
>has her own unique strengths and weaknesses like every other character
vs
>better than everyone at everything
>makes sure to let you know about above
>never really overpowered, just has to let herself get captured, etc
>>
>>221799232
Women are the primary consumers of modern media, so it makes sense to create media that's more appealing to women and girls.
>>
>>221799232
Executive's obsession with making princess movies because when little girls latch onto something it becomes inescapable. They've been trying to recapture the Frozen magic and the only time anybody has ever even come close is ironically with Kpop Demon Hunters, the movie the execs had zero faith in. Long story short, execs are jewish and retarded.
>>
>>221799232
Imagine being an adult and having this kind of emotional crisis. Pathetic.
>>
>>221799232
It's effective to pander to women because they're not discerning consumers. They will consume whatever the concensus deems to be popular.

Was Toad bricked up?
>>
>>221809232
mostly dudes who are nintendo fans watched this. and the kiddies.
>>221799232
don't matter. nintendo won again. and in anycase the Peach is a playable character and legit MC in the games.
>inb6 banned for /vr/ posting
it's not like Zelda.
>>
Her character model is just off and unappealing to me, her face is too pinched and scrunched up
>>
>>221808992
I'm surprised they didn't lean into Peach's skills as a spellcaster in canon if they wanted to make her a big deal (hurls Bowser out of the castle, albeit with Starlow, in the BIS opening; seals away Elder Princess Shroob in PiT). It'd make for a nice explanation as to why, say, Kamek doesn't just own everyone with TK in these movies, but instead she just has all of Mario's physicals but better.
>>
>>221809309
All the time especially when they hit a bump
>>
>>221799232
have you had your head in the sand this whole time OP? it's because of woke social marxist messaging and intersectional feminism that forces women to save themselves and save men because otherwise she'll lose her agency.

it's meant to demoralize men and vilify specifically white men
>>
>>221810783
i don't think she does much of anything in the games i played (paper mario) so maybe their backwards thinking was "we can't """retcon""" her into being mage when she wasn't" but she also didn't do anything...but now she """""has""""" to do something
it's baffling how much they hated mario they wrote him to be belittled and not in like an overly anime way, exaggeration

don't be a stupid weeaboo. the American cartoon was fun and Zelda is more of a proactive tomboy in that.

when they try to write women as an uwu subservient waifu (because muh Japanese/animu culture), you end up with Metroid: Other M.
>>

This is the only poster in the entire thread who I believe watched the movie
>>
>>221799518
>>221811102
i've seen it and i don't remember.
i know it's for kids, but it was like a sugar rush or a manic episode. it reminded me of the 90s Spider-Man cartoon where nobody ever shuts up. except new stuff KEPT HAPPENING, none of it mattered because it just went on to the next scene with MOAR NEW STUFF!!!.

what the hell is going on? kids are going to develop ADHD if this becomes the baseline for storytelling.

No I don't. Please tell me without referring to some schizo /pol/ theory

Every single movie requires some level of social conditioning that these “elites” believe is essential. It’s about reprogramming the younger generations through film. That’s always been what tv and film is ultimately about. If it’s not race swapping, pro commie anti capitalism messaging, lgbtq fag stuff, it’s girl bossing. It’s eye rolling how girl boss Peach is but it’s the least offensive thing in most modern movies. And Peach being a girl boss wasnt the real Mario Galaxy sucked. The movie tried being too many things all at once and never had time to breathe or bake in an idea or theme. This movie at times felt more like an Odyssey movie than Galaxy

children's films are heavily engineered to tick boxes. some middle-aged manager decided
>we need this to appeal to girls, too. strong female characters are in at the moment. have you heard of 'girlbosses'? can we add a 'girlboss' to the picture?

i'm not even kidding: there are plenty of disaster stories where some suit tanked a cartoon movie with shit like this. they're committee products, not art created by a creative person/team.
and keep in mind, the ones that actually get made are the 'success stories'.

Western marketeers whispering in their ears.
>>
That's feminism for you.

Game Peach and movie Peach are two different characters.
>>
>>221812039
This. I didn't expect her to be a useless damsel in distress, but they are so insecure and fragile she had to be a compete grrlboss
