Somhow we declined so hard that Ray Harryhausen flicks have better effects than AAA billion dollar budget movies. Amazing.

how would skeletons move tho? They don't exist other than being motionless objects, so the movement is up to whoever decides they would in a film. Admittingly they may appear "jank" due to the stop motion used. The problem with modern films is they suffer from zero creativity hence why fight sequences look terrible.

the movement in video games is rubbish, they have a few animations which just repeat, the AI just does the same animation, the same movement. In addition if you had a number of skeletons they would all have the same limited animation movements. Also they just move like any other enemy, so really just another texture skin applied to the points of movement.

the comparison to harry Housen would have been absurd and untimely if Nolan hadn't attempted to turn the odyssey into an retroarchaiofuturistic cosmic horror flick, thus making his kitschy bullshit pale in comparison to the absolute horror that is the talos or skeletons scenes in the Argonauts

It's realistic movement you fucking dork. I bet you think the statue drunkenly getting off its mound and taking some time to comprehend its sudden sentience the way someone who actually awoke from a long slumber would act looks lame because your capeshit bollywood addled zoomzoom brain can't comprehend how reality looks anymore. I bet if you were directing you'd have had it leap off doing 4 back flips creating a giant crater that blew rock 1000 feet in every direction while electric guitars played while making sure the screeches were loud enough to blow out the audience's eardrums.

He does action scenes well like in Batman Begins where Batman is stopping the microwave train or rescuing the hostages that Joker dressed as clowns in the Darl Knight, but the fight scenes and choreography aren't as good as those high octane Kung fu movies.

This is just completely baffling.

They run into some small trees, stops, stares confusingly. Then it looks like they turn around and suddenly there are trees behind them. Then it cuts back to the confused feller but it looks like he runs into the same trees AGAIN and stops AGAIN. Then it cuts away to guys running away and cuts back to (the same?) confused dudes being cut down.

The person who edited this should never work again, in anything. That person deserves to be living on the street, begging.

>After using IMAX 70 mm film extensively since The Dark Knight (2008), The Odyssey became the first feature film shot entirely with IMAX film cameras, primarily using a newly manufactured lighter and quieter version Nolan had specifically developed for the production alongside older versions.
>Over 2 million feet (610 kilometres) of IMAX 70 mm film was used to shoot The Odyssey. As a single IMAX camera can only hold roughly three minutes of film, actors had to pause during longer scenes while the camera was reloaded before resuming their performances.
Genuinely, what is the point of all this when it comes out looking like a garden variety Netflix show anyway?

Its an interesting discussion about visuals actually. The way your bones actually move in your body WOULD look very odd, because our brain is registering walking skeletons as some form of humanoid. Modern interpretations like Skyrim skeletons actually dont move like the bones would - they move like a very thin person with underlying bones.

My first experience seeing stop motion monsters I must've been like seven at the time. I was so amazed by it that I took my dad's camcorder and started trying to make my own stop motion movies with my toys - transformer boxing matches, army men vs the playdoh blob, I had a big dinosaur figure and immediately built lego cities and just intuitively started doing kaiju shit. I still remember the first time I played one of my stupid sketches back - it was sloppy and I was manually pressing record and stop so I was effectively shooting at like ~3 FPS, but it still blew my goddamned mind that it worked.

Then they got too expensive for jews so corners were cut and people who were just looking for a paycheck were hired. Jews then thought Koreans were too expensive, and now we're seeing the skill of (or lack there of) pajeets working for peanuts, or pistachios.

The only interpretation I can think of that sort of redeems Nolan is him leaning into that "movies are dreams" horseshit and him being meta and corny on purpose. Like some coked up HR karen dreaming a movie about a fake movie about the odysse featuring niggers and trannies. Or Nolan trying to rhyme like the greeks fleeing to the boat is anlog to the brits fleeing ze germans in Dunkirk. That's at least how viewed the Dark Knight Rises back in the day, like Nolan made a movie reluctantely but then took the piss secrelty. But I'm starting to think he's actually serious.
