Just saw this in theaters here in New Zealand. Pretty kino film definitely worth seeing but i wouldn't say it's up there with Nolan's best. Matt Damon, John Leguizamo and Samantha Norton as Circe hard carried the film with their performances imoAnyway ask questions and I'll make sure to use spoiler tags with answers that give away key details
I'm debating if I should watch it. All the woke shit smells bad. Furthermore, I've seen some webms of some action scenes and they looked awful. Is it at least not boring? I wouldn't be able to stand 3 hours of boring slop.
>>221805149>went to the cinema alone.
Also just watched it, I remember Matt Damon saying something about the end of the bronze age at the end of the movie but don't remember the exact phrase, do you remember it? I don't trust the other thread
>>221805149Is it as dull, grey and visually flat as the webms here make it look? How's the cinematography?

>>221805162I'd say the action scenes are the worst parts. Felt like most of the fight choreography was very stock standard. There's one right at the end that's kino because of the build up but also felt like it dragged too long>>221805174I don't know if you're asking specifically about the bronze age quote but the last words at the end of the film were they'll remember us with songs because that's all they'll have don't know if that helps>>221805190Cinematography was good to very good. There's some awesome shots with the horse on the beach and being dragged into the city. Some other stuff with the crew on the boats was cool too>>221805194I'm not a shill just a random Kiwi who watched the film. I'm now getting maccas lol

>>221805272
>>221805162The woke stuff is mostly the casting. The first face you see in the movie is a tranny, then a black man, then an asian. There's a point early on where an Indian man from Odysseus' crew stands over a kneeling greek man. The greek man asks if the Indian is an invader, to which the indian replies "We're Greeks!". And Helen of Troy is ugly as fuck. I'm not even talking about her being black. She's just hideous. The action scenes are bad. Lots of quick cuts. The monsters look retarded. At one point there's a bunch of people in chrome plate armor and they look like aliens from Dr. Who. Also the film has a shit ton of jump scares for some reason. The music does a lot of heavy lifting during the action scenes. I hope you like drums. You will mostly like the music, I think. Dialogue is hard to hear at a lot of points. Not from the music, but stuff like wind, storms and off screen chatter often muddles the spoken words of the main characters.None of the acting was good. I kind of liked Holland and this one ugly guy who gets his throat stabbed. Everyone else didn't feel like a character. It was impossible to forget I was watching Matt Damon, Jon Bernthal, Ann Hathaway, etc.
>>221805174I also could barely hear that line. The wind and the fact that the music was so loud made me partially deaf.
>>221805303Then how tf is it kino according to you?
>>221805174>but don't remember the exact phrase, do you remember it?"Oh yeah, we're ironing now!".
>>221805257>if you're asking specifically about the bronze age quoteI think it's something Matt Damon said to Anne Hathaway about his regrets over his role in the destruction of Troy. Also the final brawl was the worst part of the movie by far lol
>>221805149ITs woke as fuck, with literal netflix casting, strong wahmen who need no man, horrible armor, vomit inducing music, etc.Worst piece of shit I have ever watched.
>>221805149>>221805180>>221805235I take it the Laestrygonians looked as embarrassing and cheesy in the final product as they did in the promo materials. Wtf was Nolan thinking there, seriously

>>221805277Not brown you fuckwit. New Zealand has roughly 3/4 white population and higher in the South Island where i am>>221805303Apart from the 3 I mentioned i thought Charlize Theron as Calypso was great. Honestly felt like she should've played Penelope she's so much better actor than Anne Hathaway. You gotta admit the part with Circe feeding his men then shaping them was K I N O body horror
>>221805370Final brawl felt like some kind of video game boss fight. The weapons dropping from the ceiling, everyone attacking one at a time, Matt Damon doing finishing moves on everyone and such.
>>221805303>woke stuff sucks>action sucks>design of the monsters sucks>music is good (but only if you like drums), but but audio mixing sucks>acting (mostly) sucks>Pretty kino film definitely worth seeing
>>221805425I do think the witch actress did good work. Her scenes with Damon specifically were interesting.
>>221805453>>221805327anon, he's a different person from OPare you okay?

>>221805425You're low iq stop posting
>>221805453That wasn't me that was someone else who's seen it. I think there's enough good parts that outweigh the bad and i also didn't think all of the acting was bad. Anne Hathaway as Penelope/Osysseus wife was atrocious but nobody else was that bad tbqh. Robert Pattinson is one of my favorite current actors but i don't think this was close to his best work he fell flat

>>221805149The ending fucking sucks dick. Odysseus doesn't fuck Penelope after killing the suitors, he just collapses in her arms and tells her they are now to go into "exile" and he's going to "sail to the unknown west to honor his men" whatever the fuck that means. I don't exactly get how going on another voyage and abandoning your kingdom after just completing one "honors them" when getting home was the entire goddamn point all along.Anyway, Penelope doesn't even question this and acts like she's on the exact same page as him and tells him to get his fastest ship and raise a crew. I don't get why she's so onboard (heh) but she just agrees for some reason. Telemachus becomes king and that's it. The Odyssey doesn't even see Odysseus become king again. Bravo Nolan, expectations subverted.
>>221805223>>221805641This part was obviously shit im not defending it. Someone else already said but the movie had 2-3 unnecessary jump scares and that was one of them. That shit pisses me off plus the actor is fucking ugly. Probably the 2nd dumbest casting behind Anne Hathaway
>>221805676She's supposed to be Helen right?Who did she kill?
>>221805235thanks anonnow I want to reinstall Bannerlord with Warsails again
>>221805672Cause they're probably gonna make a sequel lmao
>>221805180lmao, what the actual fuck, this looks even worse than trailer
>>221805676really, agamemnon and anne hathaway, THOSE are your two dumbest castings, are they?
Everything about this version of Circe sucks hard and it's about the opposite to what her character was like in the Odyssey other than being a witch and turning people into pigs.Probably because googling "Circe" returns too many results related to some shitty popular modern novel.
I also saw the movie tonight in NZ and thought it was good.
>>221805719Obviously talking about Helen of Troy not Agamemnon>>221805721I don't think Nolan was going for a 1:1 recreation there was a fair bit of changes plus the dialogue is quite modernized which i didn't mind but could annoy some people. Again its worth seeing but i wouldn't put it up there with his best Memento, The Dark Knight, Inception etc
>>221805672She's on board because that's what she wanted to do with him at the start of the movie. Just sail into the sunset. It's why she's saying half the plan at the end. She's repeating herself. I know it's a long movie, so I understand if you forgot.
>>221805676Why would you care what the agamemnon actor looked like when we only saw his face clearly for like a second. The negress that played his wife HOWEVER
>>221805719>>221805794I'm clearly talking about Helen of Troy actor being fucking ugly not Agamemnon. Actor is a dual term for men and women fucking ESL mongrels

>>221805909yes i know that, i said as much in my original post, the problem is it doesnt make any fucking sense if you think about it for more than 5 seconds. HOW DOES THAT HONOR THEM? Wouldn't honoring your men's sacrifice be to rule Ithaca which was the goal of the entire journey? How does going on another aimless voyage at some vague destination that is "the unknown west" honor them in any way? The entire point of the Odyssey is the homecoming and then he just ups and leaves into self-imposed exile. This is a dogshit subversion of "the real destination is the journey!"
>>221805975Because the dead guy told him to do it, and that guy was right about like 4 other things that would happen. It makes sense to heed his words when considering that.It was probably a prank from the guys he got killed.

>>221805672They wouldn't want the chud-right co-opting the ending as a call to reclaim their homeland from evil "suitors", thus the event couldn't be portrayed positively.
>>221806241>I can tell by your thumb that you're brownClearly need better eyesight kek>>221806254Elliot Page plays a semi important role not heaps of screentime but a couple of key scenes at the start and in Hades. Helen of Troy is barely in it which is good because the actor is fucking ugly and shit. Zendaya appears briefly throughout but only has a bit of dialogue just mainly there as a symbol of Athena watching over Odysseus. Some of his crew i guess you could say are DEI hires so they've got a lot of scenes although i actually liked Himesh Patel who played Eurylochus. Never heard of him or seen him anything before but he basically plays Odysseus right hand man/2nd in charge of the crew

>>221805783>the dialogue is quite modernized which i didn't mind but could annoy some peopleHow bad is it? Is it all on the level of “You're pining for a daddy you didn't even know, like some snivelling bastard” etc?
>>221806508>“You're pining for a daddy you didn't even know, like some snivelling bastard”that tier of writing for the whole film
>>221806508It's hard to give heaps of specific examples but them saying "your dad" to Telemachus instead of "your father" stood out a lot to me since they say it so often. There's also a scene where Anne Hathaway/Penelope has a cringe "I've been on the throne but I'm a woman so that doesn't count" feminist rant. Both her acting and the specific dialogue was shit. She even mentioned something about the hairs on Telemachus chin making him more important than her. Complete fucking dogshit im assuming Nolan only included that to make "women feel seen" or something
>>221806428>>221806471I thought Jon was okay. Mostly because he's the only greek passing person in the movie and the fact that everyone else wasn't acting that well.Jon gets absolutely mogged by Brendan Gleeson's portrayal of Menelaus in Troy (2004), though.
>>221806612>he's the only greek passing person in the movie>absolutely mogged by a mick
>>221805235Nooo my precious jeet!
>>221806575This adaption of the Odyssey was itself based on an english translation of the Odyssey that was penned by a woman, with an aim to modernise it and add a feminist slant. It was quite insidious, really. The author intended for it to become the version that would be taught in schools and universities. If the feminist rant from Anne came from anywhere, that would probably be it.

Most of the Odyssey takes place around Sicily and North AfricaIf the phrase Sea People means anything to you as an audience member then the concept immediately falls apart. And it's used in the movie as though you should already know what it is.
>>221807077Its been ages since I read the book but you barely learn their names in the film. It's basically a free for all massacre with Odysseus killing everyone except those who eventually kneel down in submission. Antinous (played by Robert Pattinson) is the last one he actually kills

Anne Hathaway casting really fucks me off if they'd switched her with someone who could act, had better fight choreography and maybe some better dialogue for Robert Pattinson the film could've easily been higher. >>221807465>It looks like they grabbed a bunch of random people from NYC and put them in shitty cosplay.Yeah, that's pretty much what the movie is.
Ol Nolan sucks on the studio marketing slop pipe again
>>221807411I caught none of that blind stuff when watching. The men do believe they're punished by gods, though. Or rather, they believe Odysseus is and they're suffering for it. Ironically, the men are themselves individually earning their punishments (they ate that beef). Basically there's this "Zeus' rule" that gets repeated a lot and that's where the divine punishment slant starts. 'Treat others like you would yourself, lest you strike a god in disguise', or something like that. Odysseus believes his trojan horse idea "violated all that is sacred between people", broke the rule and set the gods on his ass. After they attack the cyclops, some of the men say they swore they heard it calling Poseidon's name, and that they'd just gotten Poseidon extra mad at them. Also, thunder can be heard a lot when certain things happen.
>>221807571yea he does, its why when the get back on the boat all of his men think they have been cursed and they blame odysseus because he shot another arrow at it when they left the cave, even though he had already cursed them before that so his men are just retards on top of it all.
>>221807478I'd say it's like 65% of the problem. The bad casting lead to bad acting. The feminist retelling of the Odyssey that inspired Nolan to make the film is also obvious very related to wokeness. The rest is on Nolan's writing being kind of shit and stuff like the direction of the action scenes.
>>221807465The fact that the movie starts with this really lets you know what you're in for, too. It doesn't let up with the DEI casting one bit.
>>221807650I swear you're misremembering. The Cyclops speaks a little bit but it's not a long winded curse like in the books >Hear me, Poseidon, dark-tressed Earth-Bearer, if I am your son, if you say you are my father, let Odysseus, sacker of cities and son of Laertes, never reach his home on Ithaca: yet if he is destined to see his friends and his fine house in his own country, may he come there late and in sore distress, in another’s ship, losing all comrades, and let him find great trouble in his house. That's from the book. He barely says 4-5 audible words in the film and the words said certainly weren't loud/clear
>>221805235>these are some big guys
>>221806895This is the worst nolan movie i have ever seen but i skipped interstellar dunkirk and oppenheimer
>>221805605
>>221807725where did i say it was a long winded curse? like i said, right after they stab his eye he literally says poseidon curse you or something like that. its literally 1 line.
>>221805641Do they keep Agamemnon's face obscured the whole time? Why? I'm guessing something lame like 'oh we wanted him to feel larger than life because we see him as the big evil arch villain (of the illiad) but he dies pathetically. beware men that appear impressive!!'
>>221807411The entire time Matt Damon acts like an athiest always saying shit like "your gods" when talking to the jeet. But the entire time he is seeing Athena
>>221807802>he literally says poseidon curse you or something like thatExactly you can't even say definitely that's what he said kek anyway that's not what Polyohemos curse was in the books. The Cyclops barely speaks and it wasn't a long detailed curse which is what the guy here >>221807411 was asking
>>221807791
>>221807802>he literally says>or something like thatClearly you couldn't hear him right. None of us could. It was unintelligible. I bet that we could hear him say "Poseiden" on a rewatch now that we know what to listen for, though.
>>221807689Matt Damon was the worst cast. He did not give a fuck but if there were no blacks in the movie nobody would be calling this shit woke. I had no problem believing this made up greek land was multiracial because they all spoke the same boring dialogue. If the jeet came up and talked like a jeet, or a spanish guy was rolling his R's i would find that to be really bad.The movie had far worse problems than casting a couple coloureds
>>221807832The part of his face you see after the stab is the most you see of it.
>>221805272All of his worst features
>>221805180>big = slow
>>221807842i heard the cyclops say the words poseidon and curse but of course that doesn't mean the cyclops cursed him.. it also doesn't explain why the crew thinks the cyclops is the son of poseidon. you really need it all spelt out for you don't you? you might actually be brain damaged.
>>221807832I'm guessing it's because Safdie's face isn't exactly intimidating so by having him in the big dark armour wearing a helmet all the time he doesn't come across as a KWAB>>221807870I don't Matt Damon was bad at all. I will say when he returns to Ithaca he didn't change his voice at all. Eumaeus and Penelope not being able to tell it's him doesn't make sense if he just uses his regular fucking voice
>>221806612Menelaus and Agamemnon were such massive pieces of shit that revelled in being cartoonish villains in 2004, and it was entertaining as fuck
>>221805149>adultLol
>>221807835Odysseus disrespecting the gods is one of the few things the movie gets right. He sets out on the voyage hating the gods because he blamed them for the war and its brutal resolution and the whole story is basically various gods punishing him having the hubris to disrespect them. Only Athena favours him because she's the token good-guy goddess. The whole thing is like an ancient greek book of Job where Odysseus learns through his journey that the gods aren't worshipped because they're righteous; they're feared because they're indomitable.
>>221806790Who were the Sea People in real life?
>>221807870Matt was bad primarily because he doesn't look very greek, and by that logic the indian, african and asian cast are even worse. I don't believe you when you say Helen of Detroit didn't pull you out of the movie. The part where where the indian guy said "We're Greeks" was as bad as the african kid in Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban saying "Black could be anywhere".
How was lil Oddy as a main character? Based on everything I've seen, Damon Odysseus seems to be the most boring unlikeable of charisma voids, without coming across as intelligent either
>>221807968i'm on a sea people diet - i see people and i eat them!
>>221807942Are you actually a fucking retard cunt? The guy was asking if the film had Polyphemus curse which in the book was >Hear me, Poseidon, dark-tressed Earth-Bearer, if I am your son, if you say you are my father, let Odysseus, sacker of cities and son of Laertes, never reach his home on Ithaca: yet if he is destined to see his friends and his fine house in his own country, may he come there late and in sore distress, in another’s ship, losing all comrades, and let him find great trouble in his house.I said no because all you heard in the film was a few words which weren't clear. It doesn't matter if those few words include Poseidon that doesn't equate to actual full curse which was spoken in the book
>>221807968seamen...
>>221807982>Matt was bad primarily because he doesn't look very greekLMAO no. He was bad because he just said his lines with zero affect. You are obsessed with race and its blinding you of the techincal problems the movie has. I just took the movie as some mythical land i dont need to obsess about needing every character to look like stavros halkias in order to call the movie shit because its shit

>>221807951It's really the best way to depict them. Even in the source material Agamemnon is portrayed as a washed up former hero who aged out of heroism and became fat, sinister and greedy in his old age. He's obsessed with power for power's sake and the whole conflict of the Iliad (the falling out between Agamemnon and Achilles) happens because of it. Meanwhile Menelaus is always described as Agamemnon's dim-witted henchman. Violent, short tempered, petty and stupid. utterly incapable without his older brother to lead him around by the nose, even back when they were they great Atreides heroes.Troy, for all its faults, got those two characters perfectly.

>>221808017>Are you actually a fucking retard cunt? The guy was asking if the film had Polyphemus curse which in the book was> is there still Polyphemos' curse? And if there is not, are the misfortunes on the way home just happening kind of randomly then or is there still a real sense of divine punishment there?where does he ask if the exact curse is spoken in this? you fucking retarded faggot. you cant even grasp what he was asking.
>>221808033Did I not open by saying it was 65% of the problem? I obviously don't think it's entirely to blame. But I do think it is a primary factor from which other problems followed. They didn't care about the cast at least looking greek, then they didn't care about them sounding greek, their armor looking greek, and so on.Again, not all of the problems stem from this. A lot is on Nolan's direction and writing.
>>221808114>is there still Polyphemos' curse?I said no there wasn't and you said yes there was. My answer is based on the fact he didn't recite the full curse from the book only said a few words that weren't clear. You're saying those few muffled words are the curse despite having no evidence that's the case or anyone itt agreeing with you. Genuinely fucking autistic kek
>>2218052401. Bike cuck2. Every game has enemies telegraph their attacks, you might as well critique the game for using the control stick to move
>>221807990He's pretty flat, to be honest. The movie insists that he's an emotional wreck at some points, but I just wasn't feeling it. Well actually, there was one moment where he finds out Calypso drugged and raped him for 7 years, and he starts getting angry. It actually felt like he was resisting the urge to throttle her as they continued to talk.
>>221808044Agamemnon isnt as overtly villainous in the book as he is in the 2004 movie but it's still a reasonable take even if one of the major problems the 2004 movie has is that they removed the Gods from the entire narrative which just completely fucks it up.Menelaus however is portrayed as far more of a 'normal' hero amongst the Greek warriors, he's definitely not portrayed as a retard or even as much of a cuck even though that's still the core conflict. He gets his aristeia (but so does Agamemnon) and he's refered to quite well by the narrator and all the other warriors, even if he's no Diomedes, the true gigachad of the Iliad.
>>221807968They varied. It wasn't a single group but a mass migration of Mediterranean peoples. Most of them were islanders that had been part of the Minoan trading network. When Mycenea rose to power and swept eastwards towards Anatolia, it toppled Minoa on its way. With the the Minoans conquered, their cast aegean trading network crumbled, leaving thousands of isolated island colonies which relied on exporting resources and importing food to survive. With their settlements untenable, most of them took to the seas either as pirate raiders or as mass migrations and wandered the mediterranean in search of new lands. Some even came from as far as Sicily, North Africa and Sardinia. They ended up largely crashing against the coastal middle east in waves and destroying or critically wounding the ancient empires there. Ancient Egypt, for example, allowed a tribe of blond-haired celtics called the Sherden to settle on the nile and employed their warriors as the Pharaohs bodyguard. Many of these tribes ended up resettling in the Levant because it was the poorly-defended no-man's land between two powerful ancient empires which makes it overwhelmingly likely they became the ancestors of the jews--which is probably the real reason this subplot was grandfathered into the movie at all.
>>221808210I'd say that pvp fighting games don't do this. You cannot read what your opponent will do. You must control the fight by not letting them start an attack, or by anticipating their most likely move and pre-emptively using a counter.

>>221808262tbf souls games should be mostly about the exploration, the new ones are too fast and action focused. The telegraphing looks silly in ER because even big fat monsters can move like sonic on crack so them pausing before a swing makes no sense, in the first few games where the combat was slower and more weighty the only requirements to succeed where keeping your composure and minding your positioning, the telegraphing didn't feel out of place then
>>221808225It's worth mentioning we arent exactly sure where they came from and the theories are all over the place. But considering that the world was also going through one of the ever shifting waves of climate change at the time which caused draughts but also earthquakes there's almost no shortage of places where people couldve moved in from into the aegan and the levant at large. Also the collapse of the Minoans and them being subsumed by the Myceneans did not in fact collapse their trade networks, since the Myceneans were well integrated into the Late Bronze Age diplomatic and financial networks which can be attested from numerous shipwrecks and the sprawling palace economies which died with the collapse.

If you agree it's slop why trawl through the entire movie just for snippets of Robert Pattinson's acting? You are not a "cuck" or retard as other anons are saying, your flaw is possessed by many and not obvious to many, but it is one that is killing the kino industry and vvestern civilization in general, tolerance. As in tolerating the body odor of an indian co-worker not openness to new ideas. The Odyssey is a foundational piece of literature exhibiting the Indo-European heroic archetype, the need to explore, discover and reach for ever more. However this movie exhibits the opposite traits, complacency, apathy, "tolerance", judging by these clips and comments like >>221805303 . Like many you were plonked in front of a TV as a baby, pop culture and mass media is your culture and consumed the better part of your life. You thus eat whatever they slop in front of you because you are bored and never cultivated anything meaningful outside of it. It is why you sat and watched comically weak insecure entitled white losers get saved and screeched at by BIPOCs who travelled 1000s of miles to Mycenae.I can't help but think of the movie that started the modern epic genre 25 years ago then Hackson's Hobbit however many years later. In both cases the main characters were all played by white men, but one was kino and the other cringe. Remove the "diverse casting" and it would still be awful because of this decline in spirit and creativity. In a better world if Nolan or someone else made an honest reproduction of The Odyssey it would never occur to them in the first place, besides the tanned long nosed caucasians of southern coast of the Mediterranean who looked like this before the mass rape and genocide by muslims.https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.lau.edu.lb%2Fnews-events%2Fimages%2Fphoenician-dna-study-01-big.jpgWe will never see that movie of course, that very brief period in the 00s is long gone. The Cyclops is there but isnt really a character, we dont learn his name is Polyphemos and the 'Nobody' plot isnt used, he's just basically feral and then says POSEIDON once he gets blinded and everyone just reads the script and goes 'oh he must be the son of poseidon I guess we're cursed.'The Sirens are in, but you dont get to really see them, some dudes get eaten by Scylla but the monster is three tentacles that look awful. The one really good thing that's actually praiseworthy are the men getting turned to pigs by Circe, that shit looked genuinely fucked up in a horrifying way that actually had me feel things. The only god that shows up is Athena and she's completely fucking pointless, Zeus is only implied with thunder like three times and no one else really shows up. >>221810651Every night, I have vivid, wonderful dreams about Elliot Page. They start with me meeting him at a press conference, and when he extends his tiny, feminine hand for me to shake, I grab his hair and lift him off the ground. While he wildly flails his arms and legs, trying to hit me, I laugh at his impotent threats. The tears running down his face from the pain, humiliation, and frustration make me feel warm and comfortable. His voice, sounding like a real person who has inhaled helium, changes pitch, going higher and lower as i swing him from side to side. The entire crowd his publicist paid to gather laughs uncontrollably at this squirming, miniature creature as I completely dominate his entire existence with minimal effort. The whole affair only ends when I slam his useless body on the ground, and stomp on his oversized, ridiculous looking forehead. Shortly thereafter, police, armed with tasers, aim and fire them angrily- at him as he screeches in pain like the demonic turbomanlet he is. I then stomp on his head again and end his pathetic life. The police fire the tasers again as his twitching corpse. They yell "CLEAR!" as they send voltage through his lifeless, distorted carcass. When the police, the crowd, and I eventually wipe away the tears from laughing, and compose ourselves, we pose for pictures together with the remains of this thing that suffered twinkdeath long ago, like a fish we caught that is to small to covet, but we enjoy the experience anyway. To me the worst part is how the movie keeps talking about the sea people and keeps teasing the Bronze Age Collapse and the line 'end of civilization' is literally uttered like three times. It's so fucking stupid and takes me out completely and is obviously some kind of dumb nod to making it more 'grounded' and 'realistic' like oh look we all know one of the sacks of Troy is tracked to around 1177 BC which is the generally agreed upon date for the beginning of the Collapse but these people wouldnt fucking know that and them talking about how 'civilization is ending' but oh so much hope and it 'will rise again' is so fucking anchronistic and preachy and feels so fucking unreal and not something anyone in-universe would ever say because no person can see these big events happening ESPECIALLY in that era where people werent getting news about shit happening on the other side of the Aegan enough to make this kinds of statements.

>>221805940Maybe Im mis rembering but isnt the best guess for the sea people, Europeans from around the med? We dont even know who they were just that they fucked things up and left and werent from the mena area
>>2218072255/10kept afloat solely by the return to ithaca
>>221810740I believe that would be teiresias, a famous prophet, I think he is in oedipus rex as well. Part of the prophecy he gives odysseus relates to carrying an oar inland, until someone mistakes it for a winnowing fan, then plant it in the ground and sacrifice to poseidon, to reconcile with the gods.
>>221810740Yeah it's Teiresias the blind prophet. He was an oracle of Apollo and is a known mythological character. One of his claims to fame besides his oracular sayings was being turned into a woman for 7 years by Apollo for smacking some snakes who were fucking. You gotta love Greek myth.
>>221807258there were multiple threads of cameos last night >>221807465the actors speak as if they’re in whatever city they live in doing errands, not acting in a period pieceit’s ridiculous
>>221810778Odysseus talks to the ghost of achilles in the odyssey.>O shining Odysseus, never try to console me for dying.I would rather follow the plow as thrall to anotherman, one with no land allotted him and not much to live on,than be a king over all the perished dead.
>>221807990the le twist of his character is that he’s a ptsd war vet except it’s different shades of ptsd very gay
>>221808404yes, argus has his moment feels like the scene was the only reason nolan made the movie
I'll probably hate watch it when it hits torrent.
>>221808044>Even in the source material Agamemnon is portrayed as a washed up former hero who aged out of heroism and became fat, sinister and greedy in his old age>and among them went King Agamemnon, with a head and face like Jove the lord of thunder, a waist like Mars, and a chest like that of NeptuneTroy did not get the two brothers right at all.
>>221811250It's already got camrips.
>>221810740Come on, doesn't Agamemnon tell Odysseus that his wife might betray him? Sow some seeds of doubt in his heart etc. Kind of stupid that Agamemnon gives him the idea to enter in disguise. Does O even have any sneaky ideas in this movie?
>>221805149>ends atCool, my local chains should do that
>>221810770It's also stupid because at this point in time Orestes has already taken his father's throne, so Mycene has yet to fall. Not to mention that he's going to live and rule for a long time. The other kingdoms are fine and dandy as well. This forced self-awareness is honestly more annoying than a lot of other stupid choices because at least I can laugh at the bad choreography and abysmal casting.
>>221811515>doesn't Agamemnon tell Odysseus that his wife might betray him?He does, actually. He tells Ody about how his wife betrayed him when he returned, and warns Ody not to have the same blind trust. Go in, assess. Ody speaks to his wife in disguise to make sure of her intentions.>Does O even have any sneaky ideas in this movie? He pretends to be a beggar while walking up to some suitors who plan to kill his son. Other than that, there's his plan to get the suitors locked into a room with him having the only weapon.
>>221808537I really don't get why we're still rolling in ER.Should've been the BB or Sekiro dash since the start. Quick, few iframes, doesn't make everything retardedly clip off the floor like rolling does.
