I haven't watched the series yet, but I read the book maybe 15 years ago and still frequently think about it.really recommend giving it a read
It's entertaining and well made. There's some aspects I think is vital to the story from the book that's missing. It feels like it's trying to be less of a culture shock ,so it shy away to display the Japanese people as perverted autistic psychopaths as the truly are.
