Why did they think it'd be a good idea to kill the main villain of the trilogy in the second movie?
>>221810222expectations were subverted.
>>221810222Because nobody cared about 2007's Grendel in a silk bathrobe so the mouse made a decision and brought back ol' reliable Sheev
>>221810222>they think
>>221810222>star sloppers were unironically excited for the emperor 2.0No wonder they ate filoni's shit up
>>221810222They should have went with the idea of him being a failed clone of the Prime Jedi, the founder of the order who was some 8 foot tall giga nigga from 10,000 years ago.
>>221810222Then he isn't the main villain
>>221810222But Kylo Ren is still there to the be the main villain! You know, the guy the MC beat in both movies including when she was entirely untrained will be a threat that hangs over the galaxy and the audience will surely believe it. There is no way the next movie will have to do something stupid and ridiculous like bring the emperor back to life because a big threat is needed and the last movie in a trilogy can't take the time to build up a new threat the audience has no familiarity with yet.
>>221812498nigga you're mixing up Star Trek and Halo
They should've committed fully and kept Collin Trevorrow for Ep 9 instead of backpedalling and retconning
Literally zero idea of what the fuck they were doing, making shit up on the fly.
>>221810222They literally didn’t think about anything
>plan to produce an entire new trilogy>don't even bother to get a rough outline of the intended story beforehandThe sheer hubris that cratered a billion-dollar franchise
>>221810222Because Rian Johnson is a literal retard.
When they first showed him, I actually thought he was a giant, and thought that was a pretty cool concept for a Sith, like what's fighting him going to look like, does he have a matching 40-foot-long lightsaber or somethingTurned out that was false and it was just a big hologram. Can't deny it would have made him interesting. Don't see a lot of genuine giants in scifi.
>>221813716I thought it was clear from FA that the original plan was 'just copy the OT', thought it was fucken shameless how hard it followed the same story beats as New Hope
>>221810222So, who or what Snoke really was?
>>221810222it's fucking STAR WARSwho cares
>>221810222It’s still amazing that they managed to drop the ball so hard even liberals stopped defending it
I would've enjoyed him just straight up not being real. The movie is a comedy anyway, imagine the laughter it would've gotten from the audience if you found out Kylo was just insane and no one was on the throne at all.
>>221814400Pickled clone of Palpatine
>>221810451This. TPBP.
>>221810222They should have done more with the knights of Ren
>>221810222>SNOKEeven when accounting for dumb star wars names, this is egregious
>>221814400orangeman
>>221810222TLJ was an inside job.
>>221814400His name is Sheev
>>221814375>the original planThat's exactly it, there was no planJJ came on board and was told "eh just make a star wars film"So he played it safe and made A New New Hope then leftRian conned his way on by taking Kathleen Kennedy to lunch and basically sleazing her for the spot, then had no plan and decided to sperg it upThen they begged JJ to return for the last one since his film had at least been competentThey really bought the bggest franchise on earth, for multiple billions of dollars, and didn't bother thinking about what to do with it at all
>>221810222women ruined star wars.
>>221815104They're just very emblematic of JJ's artistic vision as a whole. The concept artists come up with something flashy, JJ says "I want that", then he puts it in the film. No thought, no meaning, no consequence.
>>221810222Killing him was a good move, but the movie should explain his motivations and goals before.
>>221810222fuck you that's why. Suck a fucking dick
>>221810605The thing people (including, apparently, Rian Johnson) miss about Snoke is that people weren't invested in him as a character in and of himself. They were interested because he was set up as an incredibly important figure (powerful Dark Side user, effectively revived the Empire and reversed the Rebels' victory, turned Ben Solo to the Dark Side, etc.) and then told us nothing about him. That's technically a fault of TFA's and not TLJ's but people assumed his identity was being saved for some important reveal. The dumbest part about all of this is that RJ could have explained who Snoke is, and then STILL done the "Main villain gets killed off early" twist he wanted to. If anything, that would've made Snoke's sudden dismissal even more of a surprise. Him being Plagueis also would've made his death a funny nod to how he originally "died" (backstabbed by his own apprentice).
>>221813716This is more proof they looked down at us because their mentality was "no matter what we make the stupid nerds will watch"
>>221810222jokes on you, the big bad was always palpatine and his ghostclone army
This twist works perfectly fine in Final Fantasy games. It's basically Kefka killing Gestahl, or Sephiroth killing Shinra, or Kuja killing Garland.
>>221810222Rian Johnson didn´t care about the fact he was making the second movie of a trilogy, he just cares about smelling his own farts.
>>221810222They had such good ideas in this movie like rey being a nobody and possibly having a struggle with the dark side. But they bitched out on all of them.
>>221815117Sounds like Snorkel.
>>221813471Gandalf knew this
>>221815906could've had her an kylo being sort of mirrors of one another who balance each other, so they need one another even if they remain opposition without teaming up. That at least would've been novel and interesting. Nope.
>>221810222think? Plan? Trilogy? It was all just vibes and jerking each other off regarding how cool and nonchalant they were
>>221810222The sequel trilogy should have been inspired by LOTR, to be a commentary on war itself. They even have the perfect villain as a stand in for Sauron in the EU, with a couple rewrites you can make that villain fit into the theme of war itself as a villain.
>>221816708>Final scene>Judge Holden buckbreaks Finn in a space outhouse
>>221816186Star Wars has never been planned out and there are very obvious inconsistencies and asspulls in all the previous films, you were just a toddler when you watched the OT and PT
>>221810222subversion was all the rage back then
