You raise a good point op. Instead of Hollywood blackwashing Europeans in movies they should really focus on making films centred around non white original stories. I'd love to see historical epochs about ancient Assyrian or African history.

It's the ancestral culture of most of the cast (or by degrees of remove.) It's their HERITAGE. Gibson is a proven director who had respect for his work and team - look at the way he directed them, he believed in their potentials to reach for what he had in mind. It's more thrilling than The Last Emperor as historical dramatization/imagination, cos we have less visual records to base on.
