Finally tracked down my "white whale" of sealed first cover VHSs.
>>
>>221817046
I can understand cards to a certain extent but this shit really blows my mind. People really are paying out the ass to buy random old movies and games that aren't even that old or special or rare or anything.
Like people will buy a copy of the simpsons hit and run for PS2 for $700 i don't understand what is going on.
>>
>>221817046
congrats OP
grading VHSs is fucking hilarious though, probably a big scam just like trading card and video game grading is
>>
>>221817046
VHS have just become funko pops for an even gayer breed of autistic dorks
>>
>>221817096
>simpsons hit and run for PS2
a used unsealed copy is like 70 bucks, I don't get it
>>
>>221817046
>brown hand
every time
>>
>>221817096
yeah it's retarded. Though I came up back in the day buying VHS tapes at this rental place by me for $1 each and then some retard on eBay bought this shit no name movie called 'Blood Lake' from me for like $100 or something.

For me it's graded and sealed cinema tickets.

What the fuck.
>>
>>221817046
VHS grading is a thing now?

> a copy of the simpsons hit and run for PS2 for $700 i don't understand what is going on.
Same. That game sold in high numbers so it's not rare by any means, but people charging almost $100 for it is ridiculous.
>>
>>221817332
this cant be real
>>
cum grading when
>>
This is the worst kind of autism. It's not productive at all.
>>
Everyone wants to collect something for value instead of said object's original intention of entertaining you.

Not everything needs to be equity, sometimes you just need to enjoy something rather than hoping it increases imaginary wealth.
>>
>>221817972
I was like that for a while but my parents convinced me to actually start enjoying shit. I had a classic car that was fairly rare and expensive, and instead of letting it rot in the garage I put half a million miles on it over about 8 years. I had more fun driving it than letting it sit unused with the mindset of "someday i'll sell it" like boomers do.
>>
>>221817332
This has to be so fucking easy to fake.

Money laundering knows no bounds. Crazy people fall for this shit and think it's an investment.
>>
>>221818169
I don't even get the point of it.
>"wow you went to that showing?"
>no i just bought the old ticket from someone else that saw it
>>
Man I wish I kept hold of all my shit. I had everything from vidya to vinyl and sold most of them a decade ago. I know a guy who lives a sweet life selling games from his vidya collection now and then and doing the occasional tiktok. I had the Charizard card that retard logan paul bought and I sold it in 2001 for £100.
>>
>>221818239
Yeah but how could you or anyone of known what this shit would be worth someday? I kept all my old games and other shit since I'm an autist and it's all worth a lot now, but I'll never sell it. My uncle also gave me a lot of rare imported Japanese PS1 games when the PS1 was still new and I kept all those, prices for some of those niche games are insane now.
>>
>>221817332
i still got a little box of my movie tickets from the 90s saved from shit i saw as a kid, think those are worth anything? to name a few (ones i can think of off the top of my head) got ones like Austin Powers and Scream 2 and Bio-Dome and Carpool starring Tom Arnold (hey, i didnt see good movies as a kid) so they probably worth nothing lol
>>
>>221818364
I kept a ticket for Raiders of the Lost Ark, I'm sure some retard would pay big money for it kek.
>>
>>221817332
i fucking hate americans
>>
>>221818169
how the fuck do collect anything thermoprint? its at constant risk of being destroyed
>>
>>221818237
the point is to manufacture demand for new second-hand markets that your company has almost complete control over

Hey guys!
>>
>>221818502
very carefully
>>
>>221818239
I guess I'm just annoyed at myself and bitter that most of that stuff was sold for dumb shit like travel, clothes and women. The women have gone and the clothes don't fit no more. I'd much rather still have the stuff to sell and display now.
>>
>>221818035
Hell yeah, things are meant to be used.

Can't imagine looking at a toy in a box at this point & seeing investment. The next generation doesn't give a shit at all, just enjoy it while you can.
>>
>>221818200
I'd imagine a ticket stub like that anon posted was just that guys' personal ticket he paid to get graded, I can't see how that would have any collectors value
And while I think it's a waste I think most of that market would be captured by actually rare shit. Think stuff like historic sports events/concerts probably makes up most of the market.
>>
>>221818396
Yet you can't stop thinking about them. How odd.
>>
I collect rare VHS, not graded, it's a real thing but this isn't one of those things. No I won't tell you which to collect or which I'm saving to buy because you fags will drive the prices up. 100-300 is the range for top tier VHS. Some you simply will not find sealed. Hint, obscure horror movies and those around 2002-2004 when VHS stopped being made are highly collectable.
>>
>>221817332
>not even opening weekend
>ticket that doesn't matter since everyone has an emailed copy that looks way cooler
>graded
Someone either is delusional or found the perfect shitpost and was willing to invest in it.
>>
>>221819108
There's probably like 10 of you and half of you will be dead in 5 years. This is just late stage autism and your collection will end up in a recycle bin one day.
>>
I dont get it. VHS is garbage quality. I can somewhat understand Laser Disc.
>>
And how the fuck is that going to fit on the shelf?
>>
>>221819675
>I dont get it. VHS is garbage quality. I can somewhat understand Laser Disc.
The original single layer DVDs had a shorter run time in some cases than VHS tapes, so some films were edited down a bit for the DVD releases.
Because of this, certain films and scenes were only ever available fully on VHS, and unless a film is well known, later copies of the film may have continued leaving cut material out.
>>
>>221817738
some faggot GameStop manager told me in 2011 that the Xbox 360 version of Need For Speed Most Wanted was rare and that's why wanted $30 USD for the pre-owned and I laughed in his retarded face and walked out.
>>
>>221817046
>>221817332
>there are people who pay to their shit "graded" by scammers and sealed inside a fiberglass slab
Grim.
