Given the changes made to Nolans "the odyssey" from the "Source" do they atleast let the dog live in this version?
>>221821097What changes beyond cast and armor can you name that significantly change the story?
>>221821225Hercules isn't even in it.
>>221821097Is that shoveldog?
based on the fact that it's not being brought up by the brown cam watchers spamming I'm guessing it goes the same way either that or the brownoids didn't read the odyssey
>>221821225Lack of mythological entities that add to the grand feeling of the tale.
>>221821097What was the weird rock monster serpant heads thing suppose to represent? That was the only thing that kinda threw me off "lore" wise.
>>221821225The whole tone. It's very tense, serious, somewhat grimdark, psychological, etc., it doesn't have that lighthearted, troubadour-like hero's adventure/fairytale vibe that the play has.
>>221821322By "mythological entities" do you mean Hollywood actors that are above a 3/10 in looks?
>>221821874poem*

>>221821874>playretard
>>221821868Scylla?
>>221821823It was really hard to follow cause the editing, acting and pacing was terrible. The poem and story was playing in my mind and I found it just so off in presentation.
>>221821986The one that attacks when they go around the whirlpool.
>>221822036That's either Scylla or Charybdis.
>>221821961I corrected it a minute later 1 post below, ADHD retard
>>221822096>They try to connect the story to the Bronze Age Collapse and the Sea Peoples by implying that Odysseus and his men were the Sea PeoplesOk that's fucking retarded.
>>221821097The scene plays out mostly like the poem, but it felt very rushed and emotionally shallow to me.>>221821225>The Cyclops part is very simplified, there's only one Cyclops, he doesn't talk much, there is no plot to get him drunk, there is no "I'm Nobody"/"Nobody attacked me" part>They connect the story to the Bronze Age Collapse and the Sea Peoples by implying that the Greeks who fought in Troy were the Sea Peoples>In the end Odysseus abdicates to Telemachus and leaves Ithaca with Penelope to travel and find peace and honor his men>While supernatural stuff undeniably happens on screen (the Cyclops, Scylla and Charybdis, Circe turning the men into pigs, Athena appearing to him, the Sirens, etc.), it's all very gritty, toned-down and "realistic", and kind of ambiguous how much of it is real or metaphors for Odysseus' journey, mental state and guilt. Not quite the Troy approach where it's outright removed, but more up to interpretation>There is no aftermath of Odysseus reuniting with his father, or Athena appearing before the vengeful families of the suitors and telling them to stand down. In fact, only 4 minutes pass between the death of the suitors and the end credits, the ending is very rushed>The Laestrygonians are much smaller. Giant in the abnormally tall humans sense, not "huge as the peak of a mountain" and throwing boulders at ships to sink them>Menelaus and Helen do not have a happy marriage, with both of them feeling a bit cynical and bitter about the whole Trojan War situation, and throwing verbal jabs at each other>The tone is very serious, intense, dark, psychological, etc., it doesn't have that almost whimsical, heroic, adventurous and playful vibe the poem sometimes has. It even deconstructs the epic sometimes (Menelaus and Helen being unhappy, Odysseus and his men being desperate raiders, showing Penelope's anger at her situation in a way that would have been foreign to Ancient Greek audiences, and in a slightly feminist way, etc.)
>>221821225theres no poseidon in the movie
>>221822678There's no poseidon in the poem either, only bad weather
>>221822299>>221821874Okay, but none of those significantly changed the movie dude. It's three hours, they can't cram everything in there
>>221821097Did Calypso and Odysseus have a trauma dumping hookup in the poem?
>>221821225Why are you asking them? They haven't seen it
>>221822857I watched the rip last night.>LETS GGGGGGOOOOOOO
>>221822812Calypso was rapefucking Odysseus every night while he laid back and dreamt of Ithica until the gods got tired of Calypso's bs and told her to let him go home. He may have been more into it for the first few years but we only see him by the 7th all mopey and yearning for home
>>221821097I named my first dog Argos after this faithful boy.
>>221821955He actually dies from sadness when Odysseus chooses not to greet him to prevent blowing his disguise.
>>221822299The lack of a nobody part is especially retarded because Odysseus is supposed to be a cunning hero who prioritizes his mind over raw strength in many instances. The whole thing with getting Polyphemus drunk and saying his name is Nobody showcases this. But then it’s juxtaposed by him bragging as he escapes showing his hubris.
>>221822299>there is no "I'm Nobody"/Absolutely iconic and key to Odysseus being the cunning cunt he is>implying that the Greeks who fought in Troy were the Sea Peopleslmao>There is no aftermath of Odysseus reuniting with his father>Menelaus and Helen do not have a happy marriageDoes Achilles at least express his regret of being so prideful? Helen and Menelaus sticking together was brilliant along How do people accept such lazy attempts of something done better 3000 fucking years ago
>>221822763just shut the fuck up and consume goyslop eater.
>it doesn't have that lighthearted, troubadour-like hero's adventure/fairytale vibe that the play has.None of you have actually read the Odyssey. It's a dogshit film and not worth watching but the original Odyssey is very dark and remorseful, it's basically the ancient greek book of job
>>221823959It is full of the solar vitality and thumos of the age
>>221822299>>They connect the story to the Bronze Age Collapse and the Sea Peoples by implying that the Greeks who fought in Troy were the Sea PeoplesThis is one of the stupidest fucking things I've ever heard.
