I thought it was cold, logical, and mostly emotionless. Scenes were faithfully adapted but in a soulless and autistic/unimaginative way, which is the worst thing you can do with a story that is supposed to be mythical and epic. The dialogue was too modern and this was made much worse by the American accents. It felt like some of the actors were really trying and others were phoning in some really wooden performances. There are a couple beautiful shots but beautiful in a logical/technical sense, not a soulful emotional sense. The editing was horrendous. Nolan may have been the worst director to adapt an epic like The Odyssey. 1.5/5

It was seriously like Batman hype music was about to start playing.The cyclops scene begins with Odysseus's crew landing ashore and following the sheep at his command. So they wind up in the cave with the colossus, and then it immediately falls asleep after eating one of the crew's heads with zero introduction. Then, in a matter of like three or four minutes and several botched escape attempts that are meant to convey literal days of time elapsing, Odysseus and his men gradually manage to flee the confines of the cave after blinding the cyclops. Odysseus does not talk to the Cyclops in this version, so this entire sequence is even more mystifying. The scene doesn't contribute to the narrative at all other than to shit on Odysseus for losing his temper. Soon after, the meet up with Circe minutes after having had their crew slaughtered by the big guys 4 u in the forest island. Circe is a feminist literature professor cat mother in this film living in rural ireland for some reason, but her transformation of the men into pigs, and Odysseus's reaction/discovery of her sorcery all seems to take place over the span of what narratively feels like ten minutes.Nolan's depiction has the ironic effect of somehow minimising one of the classic factors of the Odyssey, which is the sheer duration of time Odysseus spent away from home.
