shawshank redemption is good but not the best.

godfather is the most overrated movie of all time. maybe seeing an actually good mafia show like the sopranos ruined godfather for me? no it's just slow and meaningless for most of it anyway. didn't bother with part 2.

dark knight was good but it's just a superhero movie at the end of the day. top 50 i could get, not top 3.

12 angry men was great. possibly the most deserving position on this list so far.

LOTR is great obviously. also deserving.

schindler's list is good though knowing it was heavily dramatized for film kinda hurts it for me. all "based on a true story" stories break my immersion because IRL shit is way messier and frankly boring and meaningless than what writers come up with, and that thought occupies my mind while watching, "it didn't happen like this."

haven't seen pulp fiction but i'm guessing kill bill is better. kill bill is good because beatrix is sympathetic. does pulp fiction have a character like that?
inglourious basterds was awful. too much exposition and no good characters except the villain nazi that got swastika'd at the end. this makes me worry that tarantino's other movies have a similar issue.

haven't seen the good bad ugly. looks like it'd be boring and empty like godfather.
