Theatrical depiction of Homer's The Odyssey has already been perfected, why would Nolan waste time and money trying to make a new one?
>>221824704Because people, me included, wanted a modern, big-budget, faithful, audio-visually spectacular masterpiece accurately adapting one of the most important works of epic art in the history of the West, not some whimsical modern interpretation/satire or whatever. And Nolan correctly pointed out that it is a strange gap in movie history that we haven't gotten this. Ofc Nolan failed and the gap remains, but that's another conversation.
