>"I thought 'electrolytes' meant sugar, no one ever corrected me, so I based the whole joke that (gatorade) sugar was being used to water all the plants in the movie. And that sugar was killing everything, that was the joke."

>"It turns out, electrolytes just means basic minerals, like potassium and magnesium, which is actually a crucial element to soil and provides healthy nutrients for plant life. Woops. My bad."

- Mike Judge

He has to be fucking with the fans. The irony is too much to be believable

What's more likely? Mike Judge didnt know what an "electrolyte" was in 2004?

Or that soil needs sodium, magnesium, and and potassium to produce healthy plant growth?
>>
>>221828224
I always thought the joke was that everyone just parroted a slogan or catchphrase for their argument not realizing that Gatorade isn't better than water for plants because they lack understanding
Kind of like how you're doing parroting an AI statement about electrolytes instead of Gatorade

Soil cannot produce healthy plants without a good amount of electrolytes, which up until 10 minutes ago, you thought meant 'sugar' and back in 2004, Judge thought the same thing.

But instead of being mad, you should be glad you now know what an electrolyte actually is.
>>
>>221828394
Gatorade does have sugar though and would kill the plants making the electrolytes useless

Potassium is a sugar, yes

welcome to 8th grade chemistry

I like when mistakes like this happen, because it shows I’m not alone, but I feel only creative types end up in these sorts of situations which is why it’s not too common.

looks like you failed it, then

>>221828459
I don’t know about that
It’s pretty stylish and it’s pretty fucking funny what are you a fag
>>
>>221828504
You're going to insist that you think sucrose aka sugar which is found in gatorade is potassium and an electrolyte?
>>
>>221828033
He’s definitely trolling
As if just water in plants solved all the worlds problems

Get a sense of humor

idiocracy is dumb
>white people, the heckin rednecks will produce too many offspring
>electrolytes wtf this is a made up thing this is bad
And in reality indians and chinese people have too many kids, and electrolytes are important for us to live and survive

well it ended up working even though he was a retard because it just means that the original knowledge of putting electrolytes in sports drink ceased to be known and it became more associated with the marketing sloga
>>
>>221828545
The joke is that the sports drink is bad for plants but the company paid off the government and claims it is good for them because it has something good

The birthrate in China is collapsing too, just like in the US. It's collapsing all over the world (no mention of India though). I guess this is how the poos finally defeat us
>>

you'll find that next year I guess? Welcome to middle school, kiddo
>>
>>221828643
Hey buddy how about you post the ingredient info of Gatorade?
Noticed your whole argument hinges on ignoring everything that proves you wrong
>>
>>221828033
No, electrolytes in sports drinks are actually salts, specifically compounds like sodium chloride, sodium citrate, and monopotassium phosphate.
Plants do need some of these minerals, but not in the massive concentrations that daily watering with Gatorade provides. The resulting high-salinity soil creates a hypertonic environment, causing severe osmotic stress that pulls moisture out of plant roots and completely sterilizes the soil microbiome.
In a real-world scenario, water alone would not reverse this damage. Simply adding water to high-sodium soil causes the soil particles to disperse, destroying its structure and turning the field into an impermeable, cement-like crust.
True remediation would take years. It would require mechanically tilling the salt-crusted flats, applying gypsum (calcium sulfate) to chemically displace the sodium so it can be flushed away, and mixing in live dung-based fertilizers to rebuild soil structure. Finally, you would need to reintroduce vital biological life—like bacterial cultures, insects, and worms—by truck-loading healthy, wild topsoil into the dead fields for months just to kickstart the ecosystem again.

Sugar from potassium and sugar from a can of soda. Clearly the same thing.
>>
>>221828591
The movie is clearly saying electrolytes are a made up term by sport drink companies to sell products. Obviously putting gatorade on plants wouldn’t work but the movie’s angle on it is that it is not a real thing and OP is saying Mike Judge acknowledged this error later

No this movie is saying that people like watching movies where people get hit in the balls and laugh at the person who gets hit in the balls
>>
>>221829004
it isnt saying that, the people just dont understand what the word means because its been lost to time so they just resort to the circular reasoning of the marketing slogan when asked what it is

We need our government to take some notes from Idiocracy and implement a eugenics system ASAP. We cannot allow poor people to produce their useless offspring.l
