Green Alien Edition.
Let it die.
dr who shit sucks
>the latest news is that after all of the hullaballooa about the BBC not having the money to make it, there's a good chance a different department of the BBC is going to make itlol. So the RTD clique are just incompetent.
>BBC Studios will be bidding to become the next producer of Doctor Who “with gusto,” according to CEO Tom Fussell.>Speaking to Deadline on BBC annual report day, Fussell addressed the future of the BBC’s biggest sci-fi hit by confirming the production arm will put its hat in the ring when the tender process kickstarts later this year.>“We’ve been the producer for 60 years and we want to be the producer for another 60 years so we will be going for that tender with gusto,” said Fussell. “We are in it to win it.”

I can see how and why some people would love S2, but what it was doing was not to my taste. At least it was doing something though - more than I can say for S7.If/when you swing around to seeing the pure historicals, I think you'd be interested how profoundly different a show they are (one I deeply, deeply love). Sometime around...hm, definitely JNT's era, I'd say before too but have trouble pinpointing an exact series when, the show kind of solidified into its most recognisable form. But there is stuff in the black and white eras predating that, before Doctor Who came to signify what it signifies now. That's part of why I resist when people/ say "Doctor Who has to be _____ / Doctor Who has always been _____ / the premise of Doctor Who is ____". Not it doesn't, no it hasn't, no it hasn't. The episodes (well, some of them) are right there. The Doctor wasn't always a Time Lord, and the show wasn't always what we act like it invariably is today.

>>221843659nah. he got his start writing computer game magazines, he's just that cynical reviewer they all had, in comedian/video form.points are valid though. i've never met anyone who likes the whole smug Jack Sparrow thing. it doesn't even make sense: Dr Who is 'clever' and cowardly and that's good, some tech lad allies with the Sonatarans and he's 'clever' and cowardly and that's bad.
>>221844513Because Sontarans are evil.
Time to prune.
GREENIS IS SO FUNNY
>>221844589of course, but i mean like you can have the same qualities and transplant them to someone else, they go from noble to wicked.Eccleston can say he's a coward 'any day', and oh we're rooting for him, he's taking the non-violent option, he's self-aware and humble.David Walliams can come from a species of genetic (?) cowards and ohh he's snaky, he's getting people hurt, Dr Who has to tell him off.at the end of the day i just want stories where the 'mechanics' of cause-and-effect, including how characters react to and feel about each other, are what spurs the story forward. like i'm not as bothered by Brooker-san about Dr Who being all-knowing, it actually gets a lot of stuff out the way, but it would be nice if he gained information more through figuring it out (this does happen in plenty of stories).and this all always sidelines the companions into doing nothing. give them jobs. give them feelings. Jane is a space cartographer from the year 3000, the TARDIS crashed into her observation tower, destroying her work (including the knowledge/means to get home). so she's pissed at him, but tags along to see if he can get her back to her planet.but nah, everyone has to be a normal boring person OR a chosen one special prophecy. all to make Dr Who look even moar epic-er as a character.
>>221844922Autism.
>>221844922Ok but being serious...Eccles saying that in Series 1 is sort of the whole point of the series, that he's gone from the Time War's lone survivor, to now knowing better, having learnt from Rose and his travels, now he realises genocide is actually a bad idea. That bald git in The God Complex, he wasn't just cowardly, he was using it to his advantage, being all obsequious and sly, feigning weakness so everyone ignores him and he gets what he wants, a goldfish it seems. Jus about the only species he has power over.So it depends on the character, story by story. One can't simply reduce morals down to something simple like "cowardice = good", that's the complex inevitability that comes with morals and grey areas, which is why Doctor Who can present different ideas as one ongoing narrative, written by different authors with different perspectives. While a particular showrunner is in charge, their particular fancy of what they like and don't like will leak more into all the scripts of their time, an overriding vision, but you've compared Series 1 with RTD to Series 6 with Moffat, written by Whithouse, of course they're going to differ. It's an interesting discussion that changes every week, the central figure of the Doctor tying it together. Perhaps his judgement is not always the best. And perhaps, just maybe, Greenis!
You wanna know the trouble /who/?Well it's dugga doo, well it's dugga dooYou wanna know the trouble /who/?Well it's dugga UHCAUSE ON A DARK DARK NIGHTIN A DARK DARK ROOMTHERE'S A HUNDRED THOUSAND REASONS WHY I'D LIKE TO WATCH SOME DOCTOR WHOBUT THERE'S DUGGA DOOAND NOW YOUR SONIC'S A WAND AND YOUR TARDIS A WAIFUAND PIPER'S GOT YOUR FACE, GONNA NEED METEBELIS CRYSTALS NOW, UHBUT THERE'S DUGGA DOO

Doctor Greenis?
>>221846550Incorrect.
Which are the least worst releases of classic Who seasons that are not on BD yet? Though to be honest even with The Collection it seems that older DVDs can be better sometimes, the upscales apply a blur filter over the grain and a very lousy deinterlace...
>>221846632Ur a confirmed tard.
>>221833657Just been re-watching Torchwood and so much of season 1 just feels edgy for the sake of it>First episode has one of the protagonists using alien pheromones to essentially rape a man and woman into having a threesome with him
>>221847199>least worstKill yourself.
>>221847255That's second episode.
>>221847305No it's not it's first episode, each member of the team takes 1 alien device home with them. Owen takes alien pheromones to trick a woman and her husband into having a threesome
>>221847339Day One, episode 2.
Prune time.
>>221847379I don't know why you're trying to gaslight me but you're just lyinghttps://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Everything_Changes_(TV_story)>Meanwhile, Tosh, Owen, and Suzie have all taken alien items from the base. Tosh scans a copy of A Tale of Two Cities with one touch and uploads it to her computer. Owen tries to pick up a girl, who shuts him down until he sprays himself with a spray bottle; then she grabs him, kisses him, and drags him out. Her boyfriend catches up with them and is about to punch him when Owen sprays himself again... and the boyfriend kisses him. Owen calls for a taxi.
>>221847471>Tardis.fandomThat about sums it up.
>>221847255>>221847339that isn't edgy. i mean it's more adult and violent, but it's actually pretty camp.Owen uses alien cologne to get some quick sex...but he gets more than he bargained for, when it works on the woman's husband, too! it's comedy.nowadays maybe it would be written as this serious business Obsession-style concept. but i dunno, Harry Potter has magic potions, and that's for kids. it's dark 'if you think about it', but not really.
>>221847493Get a shower you weird cunt
>>221847542Run out of excuses, and there it is. You were wrong, whether you accept it or not. Torchwood sucks btw.
>>221847267I meant to say "least bad", but yeah, considering how well BBC preserved the episodes, it's hard to ask for a good release. It's various levels of crappy rips and post-processing applied to crappy rips...
>>221847729Spearhead from Space is in HD.And so is Greenis!
>>221842795Considering he's talking about pure historicals and JNT, that seems to be a classic series discussion. Pure historicals (alien-free episodes) were an early idea that disappeared after the first three seasons with Hartnell, and I guess you could lodge a complaint about S7 that it was all about the pretty color film that left no budget for Pertwee to go anywhere with the Tardis.
>>221847912Yeah, and SfS looks absolutely gorgeous. Sad that this was one of the very few times they got ahold of cinema film, but in a way fortunate that it happened at all, given how pricey that film used to be.
>>221847729I wish they went the extra mile in recoloring stories like Doctor Who And The Silurians because some of it still looks a bit off.>inb4 it was filmed in color alreadyI know. But those tapes were wiped. Only black & white backup copies survived. Which had their color restored in the 90s.
