It's really not surprising that low-information normgroids like the Odyssey. Provided that there's enough spectacle, decent enough performances and writing and technical competence that is at least able to hold itself together until the end of the film, the low-information normies are going to like it. Most normgroids have come to expect "community theater" vibes from the media they consume and it doesn't bother them. From some likely cherry-picked clips, people were hoping that this would be Nolan's "Megalopolis" moment, but I think its safe to say now that Nolan is still competent enough to make a passable blockbuster. Where the film's flaws are going to do it in isn't in its initial reception, but in its staying power. Much like the many, many TV shows that follow this model, start strong in their debut and then proceed to completely faceplant in later episodes and get cancelled, I think most normie audiences are going to watch the big summer popcorn flick, say they liked it, go home and never think about The Odyssey ever again. It will ultimately sputter out by basically everyone except the haters. If you're reading this post and you disagree, screencap it. If anyone except /tv/ and their chud confederates are talking about Nolan's Odyssey in a month of my posting this, consider my post thoroughly disproven.
