Was it really that scary?
>>
no but the scenes are highly satisfying to watch

Definitely in a "chair-lifting" way, but it's definitely a film that comes back in your mind at 2 AM when you can't sleep and just drives you further into insomnia

Also a very strange and "irregular" masterpiece
>>
No. It's for that reason that so may insane conspiracies like the ones in Room 237 exist, some people just can't accept that Kubrick made such a mid movie and they have to come up with extratextual nonsense to explain it.

Only the old bitch as a kid.

I don't give a single shit about horror films normally but this is a good movie. Not massively frightening but the scares are fun and inventive and the premise is interesting.
>>
I mostly just enjoy the setting. Getting ready to book a trip to the stanley because my gf believes in ghosts and i love the mountain atmousphere.

It was a little scary, just the old woman though.

no but its surreal and intense without departing too far from sensibility. a good horror movie is called a thriller
>>
>>221840583
No, but it's a great film.

OH MY HECKIN SCIENCE THEY SAID THE N-WORD!

Not by modern standards, but it succeeds at achieving a tremendously unsettling atmosphere and sense of disorientation. There are many "impossible" doors and windows that are deliberately meant to subconsciously bother the audience since the hotel was meant to be a labyrinth of its own. It's completely unique and that's what makes it my favorite horror movie without being especially scary.

Like others have said the old woman scene is creepy and that's about it. The rest is more of an atmospheric thriller/drama which is comfy and good. I really love the scenes with Jack at the bar on his own, where he's just quipping and knocking back whiskies. The film is like The Wicker Man in that respect, I didn't really experience it as a horror but rate it very highly anyway because it's just really good stuff.

It's more of a thriller/mystery now than a horror. Great visuals. Iconic soundtrack. Timeless moments. Classic movie.

No. But it's amusing to watch black YT reactors' jaws drop when a certain word is uttered in the red bathroom.

Book was creepier because you get into his head more

This is an extraordinarily unusual case of a Jew taking material from a gentile and actually enhancing it. Not just enhancing it but mogging the writer into oblivion.

>boy shines
>sees le scary memes
>elevator full of blood
>fucking elevator full of blood, you Kube faggots
>power of BOO
>power of boredom
>iconic door/face scene
>ok maze chase sorta
>power of boredom
The bar scenes are good.
Supremely overrated.
6/10

No, the one thing the genius Kubrick couldn't do, apparently, was horror, and his stunt-casting of JN and SD didn't help with the film's much needed suspension of disbelief and immersion in the creepy setting either.
