what is /tv/'s review of The Amazing Spider-Man 2?
>>
>>221844871
Bloated mess, but still better than the Holland movies.
>>
>>221844871
I didn't like The Amazing Spider-Man, so I never watched the sequel.
>>
>>221844871
top tier suit
embarrassing villains
twilight romance
dogshit movie
>>
Isn't that the question of the day?
>>
it wasn't good, but it's somewhat watchable
>>
>>221845092
>embarrassing villains
that's spider man in a nutshell
>>
>>221844871
It sucks but somehow has more soul than the Disney trilogy or however many they're doing

I recall thinking this and the first one were trash but I don't remember much of the films themselves

Perfect reviews. The Garfield duology is a hot mess, but remains ernest with good intentions. It makes an effort to introduce mythos that had yet to be put to screen (f or better or worse) and had the best love interest for the lead.

The Disney Spiderman is slavishly tied to the MCU money printing machine. It's visually dull and feels insincere about it's own material. These movies feature the worst incarnation of every-single character from the series. Worst Peter. Worst Flash. worst love interest.

It's hard to believe the two leads are together offscreen. Their lack of onscreen chemistry is embarassing.

Is Tom Holland really just zedeyas beard?
>>
>>221846667
>beard
I'm not sure about beard but it's definitely a political relationship.
Young Tom 'could have been' Holland and Zend 'about to be' Aya needed eachother to be a power couple, but somebody pounded Hollands boy button a bit too hard and now he's trapped as spiderman and random flop characters that aren't good for his career.

I still hate how this shot was in the trailers, but it's also the very last shot of the movie and then it cuts to credits. So it teased a proper fight with Rhino which isn't there
>>

What amazes me to this day is they know from the success of the first two Raimi movies is that Spider-Man movies should be fairly straightforward:
>One bad guy
>Romance/ love interest storyline
>Spidey swings around NY saving people
And yet they keep making Spidey movies overly complicated with too many storylines (BND is going to be the same way) and Amazing Spider-Man 2 (although it has good moments) suffers from too much shit going on at once. That said, I like it like >>221846667 says it has its own charm.
>>
>>221848374
They were influenced by the early MCU which seemed unstoppable, and they thought Spider-Man alone has enough characters that we can do it too, our own separate branching cinematic universe.
It was that combined with the same mistake Batman v Superman made, we have to catch up with the MCU so let's stuff as many different things as possible into this one movie, we're confident we can quickly build on all of them
>>
Tugboat/Raimi > Garfield > Holland
>>
>>221848719
Huh didn’t know that. That’s so stupid though. I mean these people “producers” or whatever you call them are more aware of story telling and good writing than people like you and me but they still can’t see the forest for the trees. Maybe if they just stayed in their lane and tried to stand apart from what everyone else was doing we would have had a better movie.
>>
>>221848946
They aren't aware though. They are money people. Non creatives that follow numbers and trends.

It should have kept the deleted scene where Peter’s father showed up at the graveyard. Also it had a pretty good soundtrack and it has the most underrated Spider-Man theme.

Shittier Spider-Man 3.
The plots are different but both try to juggle multiple antagonists and plots at once. Spider-Man 3 has been criticized a lot but Raimi did it masterfully compared to this shit.

honestly pretty bad...
>Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone improvising flirting with each other for 45 seconds at a time
>Green Goblin looks like ass
>the entire plot with the Osbournes is really fucking bad and goes nowhere
>Electro looks goofy and his motivations for hating Spiderman really make no sense
>Spiderman spends too much time goofing off than actually stopping the villains
>for some reason we have to pause the movie so Peter can unravel the mystery of his parents which gets really fucking dumb
>>
>>221844871
> I found Electro to be portrayed awkwardly
> I thought it was contrived he goes evil because Spider-Man doesn't recognize him when he's clearly turned into Doctor Manhattan why would be recognize him
> Spider-Man doesn't even point that out after realizing it's why he turned evil
> Electro should have looked like Electro not Doctor Manhattan
> The Osborne stuff was rushed and felt crammed into the movie (reminded me of Venom in Spider-Man 3)
> Pretty sure Peter would've tried to find a way to work with Harry if his blood was literally the only thing that could keep him from dying
> Don't think they needed to add that aspect into the movie in the first place. Osbournes are cool and all but there's a lot of other stuff from the Ditko era alone they could've pulled from of they didn't want to retread the Raimi films
> The Sinister Six were cool but they also felt rather crammed in at the end. I feel like this could've worked with some minor adjustments (basically just a cool montage at the beginning showing Spidey's off screen adventures in-between movies to set them up)
> Building off the above, it probably would've been better to just do a Spidey vs the Sinister Six movie instead of Electro and Green Goblin
> It would've been better to kill Gwen in movie 3. There's no way to do a satisfying trilogy where she dies in the middle, especially if they were going to introduce Mary Jane in movie 3.
> Building off the above, they should've introduced Mary Jane in movie 2 and started teasing the love triangle.
> Breaking Pete and Gwen up was stupid
The weird Peter stalking Gwen thing was the worst part of all, shouldn't have been included at all or played more endearingly

Ultimately, better than the MCU movies
>>
>>221848719
> They thought Spider-Man alone has enough characters that we can do it too, our own separate branching cinematic universe.
They could've easily done that, the problem is Sony has a hard time making good movies (Madame Webb, Morbius, etc, Venom 2) their idea is a good one they just don't have the talent to pull it off.
>>
>>221844871
They robbed us of prime Shailene Woodley's M.J. Apparently her scenes were shot, but will likely never see the sun.
>>
>>221850789
We haven't seen her scenes, but we do have set pics of her in the role.
There was a "Go get em, tiger" meme at the time, based on how unflattering some of the pics were or how she seemed like a downgrade from the Dunst version
>>
>>221844871
I liked how Electro actually played some dubstep in the final battle

No it isn't
>>
It always bugged me how the only reason they were able to defeat Electro was because Gwen knocked him out with a car, which gave her and Peter enough time to come up with a plan even though less than two minutes earlier in the same scene Peter slammed him into the ground so hard he exploded and all it did was turn him into conscious electricity that kept fighting.
>>
>>221850948
I remember these. People are retarded. It's like they forget that makeup and lighting are an essential part of why people in films/tv/porn look the way they do.

She was gorgeous in spectacular now which was around the same time period give or take a year.
>>
>>221844871
Genuinely quite like 2. I liked it so much more than the first movie which was just Peter fucking around trying to figure out his parents secret code. Movie 2 had really cool villain fights and more of Peter and Gwen which was the best part of this continuity. My big problem is honestly Harry being a creepy weird little shit but I grew up with James Franco Harry which is way different from how the comics normally portray him.

The real shame is that TASM2 is not even the best possible version of what they did shoot. Someone or some people really just fucked up what could have been a good if overstuffed sequel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7v9rG7f0tM

The script originally had a timeskip which made this scene cute. Instead they ditched the timeskip and now you have a boyfriend literally stalking his girlfriend he's regularly seeing at that point in time.

Movie is all kinds of fucked up, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
>>
>>221844871
skipped it on release since i was kinda bored of supes by then and i just had a kid. finally watched it, and it was better than i expected. kinda disappointed we didnt get a third. yeah,, the villans were comically bad..but the facebook guy was great, suit was cool..and the scale was smaller. i hate that every supe movie is now saving the world/galaxy
>>
>>221845683
The first movie was so fucking dull to watch... The dad's briefcase wasn't that interesting
>>
>>221851297
There's a lot of stuff like this in the movie. Like when Harry turned into the GG the bald dude activates some type of security alarm but the sliding glass door protecting their top secret glider and exoskeleton still opens automatically for him lmao
>>
I thought it was not as good as the first one with the reptile doctor, but it was still pretty good, had very cool outings by Dane Dehan and Jamie Foxx as the villains, and it even strangely intertwined with The Zero Thereom, making me think Terry Gilliam ghost directed this, which I felt was hinted at when Electro tore a nuclear capacitor fuel rod thing from under ground. 4 radi of popcorn, and a glass of milk cuz of villains.
>>
>>221844871
I like it, for all it's faults it has some great stuff
>>
>>221852783
What? Electro never broke a nuclear capacitor fuel rod, it was the electrical power plant he designed. It's why he had the blue prints at the start of the movie

Much worse than SM1-2 and TASM1, slightly worse than SM3, still infinitely better than all the MCU shitty Spider Man attempts
>>
>>221847257
Lol, I remember the trailers for TASM2 were such a hilarious shitfest. There were a ton of them, and half of the scenes from those trailers didn’t even end up in the movie (like that one where Harry tells Peter that Oscorp has him under surveillance for some very mysterious reason)
>>
>>221853263
Homecoming is better tbhonest
>>
>>221844940
It's better than Holland 2 but not better than Holland 1
>>
>>221848374
It also gets really retarded with the story telling about how Peter's dad is responsible for the spider serum and only his DNA can become Spiderman and then they just move on from this because they didn't have any time for it
>>
>>221844871
Watched with a friend a few months after release. We thought it was the worst piece of crap we'd ever seen.
Watched it a few years ago with the same friend along with Kson's stream of it. It was a solid 8/10.
I can't explain reality anymore.
>>
>>221848374
>is day is they know from the succe
The first two Raimi movies are craptastic.
The third is enjoyable because it stopped pretending to be serious, but it's still not good.
>>
>>221849221
This post is extremely high quality.
But watch TASM 1 and 2 again today if you haven't seen them in a decade. You'll be surprised. Reality changed them, or the LHC did, or jew magic did, idk. They're good.
>>
>>221855385
no they're still buns
