have you seen Altman's The Long Goodbye? I think it'll give you a similar feeling. it's a different tone for the most part but it's still exceptionally atmospheric

IMO, it's not really nihilism. everyone in the movie has a code and objectives, but the "good guys'" morals change over time. it's cynical over nihilistic
