Omaha was such a shitfest its impresssive they managed to take it
All the other beaches were easy tho
They should have tried to bombard Omaha harder with the ships before letting the soldiers land there
>>
>>221848814
If they told me this is how it would go down in briefing I would just not go
>>
>>221849072
And that's what nobody else did
>>
>>221848959
The weather just happened to get suddenly worse around Omaha during the landing to the point that all bombardment attempts largely missed the intended targets, even with their ships, not just the planes
Worse of all, the high waves produced by the bad weather made a lot of the tanks that were intended to cover the infantry sank way before reaching the beaches, so overall, the soldiers were completely exposed with almost zero cover against largely intact german defenses
And to top it it all, unlike in all the other beaches that were defended by conscripts and largely inexperienced soldiers, Omaha was the seat of a veteran infantry division
All in all, the massacre at Omaha happened because A LOT of things went wrong at the same time
Yet, despite being the deadliest landing, out of the 34k troops that landed there, only 2.4k died, which is a rather low percentage of casualties all in all (of course that number must still have looked like the end of the world for the soldiers going through it)

>2k Americans die due to a complete shitstorm of complications and still manage to take the beach despite most men not even landing where they were meant to
>>This was a total goyim slaughter bro… On purpose too…
Saving Private Ryan ruined the public’s perception on DDAY… And Hitler DIDNT have to declare war on America BTW

This wasn't really a secret. They knew there would be a ground invasion within the week because the beach had been bombed by the navy and air force prior to the landings. Unfortunately the weather was bad and a lot of the bombers overshot the target area. So most of the German fortifications were left untouched when the first wave arrived.

What was he planning to do with his arm? Micro-vascular surgery hadn't been invented yet, it can't be re-attached.

Did the massive fleet of allied ships off the coast not clue them in?

The accurate answer is that the shock of the injury was messing with his judgement. Also explains why he's standing.

The answer I choose to believe is that he just bought that watch and he's not leaving it behind.

It's almost impressive how effectively they were able to subvert American society in the span of 20 years.

Show some respect. They died for niggers, spics, and jeets to murder and replace their grandchildren.

Imagine all the inconvenient info Himmler could have shared if he had been tried at Nuremberg rather than murdered by the OSS

they did catch the germans offguard.
there was always gonna be SOME resistance at the actual landing sites, it was inevitable that the allies were gonna get a foothold in the first few days, the germans didnt even have enough ammo on site to hold them at bay for more than a day.
but the most important thing is what happened afterwards.
the german high command fumbled the ball, because they still tought that the landings in normandy were a ruse and that the actual allied push was gonna come further north in the calais/boulogne region. this delayed the german response force in normandy by several days, because they were holding out reserves for another landing that never came, and when they finally realized normandy was the actual invasion, the allies were already much better entrenched and repelled it easily.

When you join willingly you have more control over what your career field will be, and which service you are in. When you're conscripted you have no input
