All in all, pretty bland. Probably sits right in the middle of Nolan's catalogue in terms of quality. Surprisingly understated cinematography, better than expected production design, mid acting, terrible dialogue, and shockingly bad editing (especially for a Nolan movie).

I felt nothing the entire time, until the scene where Argus recognizes Odysseus, and Odysseus gives the monologue about fatherhood at which point I had probably the biggest emotional breakdown I've had at the movies in a decade. Weird.

the cinematography is horrible. The entire movie looks like it was directed by a retard

yeah similar reaction, I barely cared until he got back home and things started to heat up. the island stories along the way are poorly done.

It wasn't just the dog. It was the dad stuff too. Idk man you're here too so it's not like all's well with you

>anti odyssey posters are brown
no surprise

Yeah, here to set record straight and call out this movie for being irredeemably shit.

Odysseus should have been more wily, and arrogant at the beginning. It doesn't really feel like the journey changes him much
>>

This. So much this.

EDIT: Thanks for the gold, stranger.

The cinematography was fine - better than fine. But its crazy they spent so much production and marketing energy on the whole IMAX 70mm experience when they could've shot this movie on 35mm digital and it wouldn't have changed a thing

The editing is the real issue. Constant cuts even in basic dialogue scenes. I counted 49 cuts in 2 mins from when Telemachus appears. No room for the actors to act. It's actually amatuerish, I don't know what the hell Nolan was thinking here.
>>
>>221854973
Yep. They were literally doing the MDE Office boss jump-cuts when he was on the island with Calypso. I was laughing my ass off
>>
>>221854864
Idk - all the 'changes' come in the form of dialogue, which is terrible, but that's par the for course w Nolan

Jealous that dogs can be loved unlike yourself?

I don’t find white women attractive, so I don’t care, dude.

Yeah, it just sucks that like the arrogant moments he has from the book. Just don't really make sense. In the context of the film, like, I don't really get why he shot the Cyclops in the eye with the arrow. That seemed like an obviously stupid thing to do. I know it's in the original. It just wasn't really pulled off properly

You accidentally posted this on 4channel and not reddit

Again - the mistake is in the dialogue. They could have just had a side eye from the crew and cut there. But instead Nolan chooses to have the characters explain their actions to each other and practically break the 4th wall.

It’s almost like… Nolan is, uh, a hack high on his own farts or something

It’s so easy to out the R*dditors, it’s not even funny.

Sure. I still don't mind going to see his movies. Our theatrical options these days aren't exactly robust
>>

What's crazy is Idon't even think that's the best dialogue Nolan can come up with. I think he literally dumbs down his ideas for mainstream audiences. That's why his later output is so jarring compared to his earlier work. This is the guy who wrote memento when he was 29, so clearly he could write a smarter film but he knows that normies are stupid and writes stupid dialogue for them. At least that's my theory.

see how they're spamming multiple threads every hour? that's because they're all advertisers. real people who actually want to discuss something would keep to one thread at a time, so that they don't have to keep track of multiple threads. obviously.

report and ignore, and furthermore do not watch this garbage film. no pirating, no hate-watching. let it die.
