>goes on Odyssey
>is named Odysseus

Who wrote this crap?

so is it "good" in the same way oppenheimer was "good"? ie. not actually good, but it doesn't have any critical errors, and everyone's too scared to say it's mid.

It convinced a huge number of people that it's the best movie of the decade and you need to see it on the biggest, most expensive screen you can find

modern people are people-focused, social media obsessed, they all have a list of celebrities they are fans of, and anything that these celebrities do is amazing in their eyes, the actualy quality of the thing they are doing is irrelevant.

this movie could literally be the worst movie ever made in history, and people would still say it's a 10/10 because it has their favorite celebrities in it.

same with art, video games, youtube videos etc.

Go read Armond White's review it's actually incredibly accurate as to the situation, he even coined a new word to help explain the phenomenon in "nolanoid' as shorthand for people that only look for the spectacle of a movie and don't bother to actually think about what they're watching in the whole.
There is no artistry here, there's a reason it's recorded for IMAX so that you won't think about how the pieces fit together and even if a few of the sequences are interesting none of them really work together, it's not a story about Odysseus and his hubris, it's barely a story at all. The acting is also incredibly subpar but honestly they hired Damon and Holland so you can't really expect much.
