>>221860581Horror movies are often low budget or risky in other ways so it’s not often well established people take part in them, which means you get fresh faces in them often. High churn of new people means younger and more variety of women. Plus, having a young woman in the mc role or mc’s partner’s role is useful for the fear factor because they want the audience to think from the characters’ perspective and having rambo bust in with a machine gun in a haunted house wouldn’t be as scary as a pretty young girl who can barely defend herself.Speaking of risky, one of the reasons I like horror is because they try new things all the time, there’s a lot of slop too but if you do the same thing in every movie, the fear factor is gone so many horror movies try to do at least a few things differently from audience expectations. Sometimes that ends badly and sometimes you get good results. Other genres can get away with the same essential storyline with the characters or setting switched out. Romance for example, boy meets girl, they fall in love, date, have sex, she leaves him for chad, comes back to him after chad is done with her, they get married 10 years later because she wasn’t done enjoying herself with other men. Switch around a minor detail her and there and the characters/places and you get a new romance movie women will watch. Horror can only do that with classics like dracula and werewolves, everything else needs something fresh
