I found the philosophy this move portrayed to be really jarring.As someone whose had particularly dark thoughts in my lifetime, it’s quite scary how zendayas life started falling apart, her partner and friends becoming hateful towards her because she admitted something that she never ultimately ended up doing.I think the argument would be that she would have to be a particularly evil person to even plan doing something like that in the first place but there are parts of society that can completely accept when people do horrible things like murder their partners because they were stressed or abandoned their children because they’re not ready for parenthood, but there’s absolutely no sympathy for ,at least in this film - a teenager, who was planning a school shooting There should be sympathy therebecause any child that is thinking of doing something like that is clearly hurt and is clearly hurting and lacking the appropriate outlet to get that out and I’ve not seen anyone discussing that side of the film it’s just oh yeah, she’s evil or she’s Hitler and it’s just this discourse that’s completely taken over the online space as well because of American politics and it’s just like bad thing bad and there’s no space for like rehabilitation or discussion or this open empathy that leftists like to spout because they’re such empathic people but really there’s you know there’s there’s just nothing it’s just like hatred.
