Brutally mogged by Lunch
>>221864458Why didn't they just use the existing publicly available footage
>>221865499>existing publicly available footageWell it's technically not publicly free. You can license from the DoD (or DoW now I guess) footage and likeness to their equipment but it's stipulated you are required to let them review your script and they'll back out if you want to include elements they won't like (like soldiers developing mental illness/substance issues, or bullying from COs).
They could've used footage and then restored/upscaled it or just have gone all out on the CGI to make sure it looks legit instead of whatever the fuck that gasoline explosion was. All that buildup for a fucking fart.I mean look at this, you can't use 100% practical effects to achieve something like this unless you build your own nuke and detonate it. What a fucking let down.
>>221864458this film is shitit's literally just men in a room for 2 hours talkingthe detonation is also shit
>>221864458I saw Dunkirk in theaters and probably won't ever pay for Nolan again.

>>221866749you can tell they wanted to duplicate this in OP pic.the problem is that you can just tell intuitively that its a much smaller explosion. maybe they should have slowed it down.
