How come they have American accents?
>>
To match the accent of the rest of the cast. If theyre all supposed to be native born greeks wouldnt make sense for them to have different accents like theyre from different places.
>>

Why would they even speak English
>>
>>221871230
I don’t understand as an American. What does an American accent supposed to sound like?
>>
>>221871230
Because Nolan is a hypocrite. He says its for "a modern audience" except apparently modern people in England don't have English accents
>>
>>221871230
If they're not speaking the ancient foreign language their characters are supposed to speak then why does it matter what accents they have?
>>
Having a British posh accent sounds just as illogical.
>>
too many celebrities in this to even break immersion.

No, that wouldn't make sense at all. At this point in history, Greece was made up of various city-states, each with their own cultures and likely regional dialects. Everyone from one city-state should talk differently then everyone from Ithica. Like how people from new Jersey sound different from people from Texas.

Troy had much better dialogue, its insane
sure its not the best written dialogue but it felt much more grandiose and epic

>Get up, Prince of Troy! I won't let a stone take my glory
>Myrmidons! My brothers of the sword! I would rather fight beside you than any army of thousands!
>Let no man forget how menacing we are, we are lions! Do you know what's waiting beyond that beach? Immortality! Take it! It's yours!

Compare this to anything from Nolan's Odyssey. Nothing is memorable, it all sounds modern and bland. Even the lines that actually stand out it's because the suck so hard

If they're all supposed to be native born greeks, why are a bunch of them black?
>>

American movie, American Culture, American World

do you think all ancient hellenics from every single part of the hellenic world spoke the same exact way?
>>
why didnt't they not learned homeric greek? idgi
>>
>>221871472
Matt damon and tom holland's characters were father and son so their accents needed to be the same. And I'm pretty sure pattinson's character was from the same kingdom too.
>>
>>221871230
That's just how normal people talk
>>
>>221872190
real shit, i hated how nolan wrote in the modern vernacular, there was absolutely no attempt to make it sound as if they were alive 3,000 years ago. "ten years on this fucking beach" immediately i was like uh okay
and then the blackie "i told you to fuck off" like sure he's a negro and all but still out of place
>>
>>221871230
He was trying to make it accessible to idiots.
>>
Daddy 'Sus, what's up my guy!
>>
>>221872458
>He was trying to make it accessible to idiots.
then why didn't the british actors use their natural accents then?
