If he just called the police they would've charged her with 1st degree murder and animal cruelty and then locked her in a padded room with a straight jacket in an insane asylum. Then he could've called it a day and lived his life. This was going to happen to her anyway, free from the wish or not, because she killed Ian, Sarah, and presumably Bear to anyone investigating and they were all dead around her while she was the only surviving suspect covered in their blood and probably gunshot residue from firing the gun. Any defense she muttered about being controlled by some "entity" or some "wish" would've just classified her as insane and she would end up in a nut house anyway. She also had motive because Sarah sent Bear texts to meet late at night which the police would've found, and they would suspect that Nikki killed Sarah in a fit of jealously over Bear and Sarah hooking up. There's no way she stays out of prison/the nuthouse especially on her music store wage and a public defender she'd probably have to settle with.
