By pathos I mean the weird energy you get from "dreamworlds" and the loss that comes from waking from a nice dream to a nasty reality. The art in Inception had great actors, music, and visual design. The other movies of Nolan I have seen have been notable for the lack of pathos and the lack of art. The Batman series is a perfect example. Visually very ugly, unmemorable soundtrack, and extremely unemotional. That is true as well of the Odyssey.
