And it wasn’t just the magic and monsters. It was the descriptions of weapons and armor (which were Iron Age, when this is supposed to be set in the Bronze Age, a difference of easily 500 years), the burial rites (cremation wasn’t a common practice in Bronze Age Greece), the ships described vary by century, and so on. Imagine a story set in early 1800s America, only people are driving modern cars, using modern weapons and so on. That’s basically what Homer did for his timeHaving an ethnically diverse cast is just another anachronism, only it’s modern times instead of Homer’s time. There is no reason to defend Homer including anachronistic elements in his poem, while also being mad at Nolan for it, aside from just being racist (which is also irrational)
