they are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, which is why the rough edges have eroded away into soil, and why they're full of deciduous trees. the rockies are big and jagged with more exposed rock and mostly only conifers because they're babies. they're also beautiful for different reasons, but the appalachians are much more of a vibe.

Having lived in both for extended periods of time, I much prefer the aesthetics and climate of the Appalachians because I like the jungly/rainforesty look and style of nature more than big-ass open ranges and conifers. West Glacier in Montana definitely scratches the itch pretty well though.
