Crazy how it feels like no one ever really talks about this guy despite him being objectively one of the strongest kinomachines out there
>>
What was your favorite of his performances, /tv/? For me, it might be Jopling from Grand Budapest.
>>
>>221981073
if i had to pick one it would probably be The Florida Project, he completely steals the show
>>
He and Mads Mikkelson have really strange looking faces that somehow look really handsome. Is this just one of those status things where no one would say they looked good if they were actually homeless alcoholics on the street? Steve Buscemi also has a weird face but I don't think he's all that handsome, he certainly wouldn't rate as high as Willem or Mads do.
>>
>>221981169
I haven't seen that one, I'll check it out.
>>
>>221981325
I think mads is alot more conventionally handsome than willem or steve. Buschemi looks like a cross between a ghoul and a frog. I cant really see why you'd say mads has a weird face though
>>

it's really good, hope you enjoy it

An absolute fucking legend, anyone who disagrees is a dyed-in-the-wool contrarian. I love the alliance he's forged with Eggers -- that autist is going to keep casting him in his films till one of them drops dead. Looking forward to Werwulf and possibly that indie movie where he's playing a hotel manager or something.
>>221981169
>he completely steals the show
When doesn't he? Only film I recall where he doesn't stand out much is Spike Lee's Inside Job, but then I remember absolutely nothing about that film.

Man, that’s a tough one. I’m going to go with one Nemo in “Inside.” It’s one of the rare ones where he gets to do essentially a one-man show.

Fuuuuuck man. The guy just shits kino.
My first movie with him was Spider-Man; never heard of him before that and yeah, he made an impression of being a psychopath. After that, of course it was Platoon which was a fucking AWESOME role and just made Dafoe look like, the coolest dude in the world and definitely that one guy that would get you home but wasn't coming home himself. And then he plays Jesus and knocks it out of the park again (I'm just going off the order of movies I've seen him in) and then he was in Boondock Saints and....fuck man, it just becomes a whole new film wherever he shows up and there's only a handful of actors that can make claim to that.

if you want an entertaining bad movie where willem dafoe plays a crazy piece of shit, I highly recommend paul schrader's "dog eat dog"

He feels extremely consistent, I honestly have no clue which of his performances is the best.

oh no, not someone who actually wants to follow the bibles teachings when it says to care about your fellow humans.
let's just be nice normal religious zealots and use our religion to justify hate of things we don't understand.
>>
>>221985797
That's a stunt cock because Dafoe was even bigger and it just looked obscene.
>>
>>221985599
Probably Spider-Man. Maybe saw one before that, but that was the first one that made me really take note of his performance.
>>
>>221980839
vaxx status?
>>
>>221985808
it'd probably be some theater shit for his actual best lifetime performance.
the problem with really good actors in film is their performance is entirely at the whim of the director and production/editing.
if you ever see an actor you know is great giving a mediocre performance, 99% of the time it's the director making that choice, the actor is just showing up and doing what they're told.

>When doesn't he?
You're gonna hate me for saying it, especially based on your reponse to that other anon, but... I thought he was pretty mediocre in Nosferatu. Not really his fault, granted, I thought his character and most were pretty inconsequential. For me, Aaron Taylor-Johnson was the show-stealer. His character, along with the rest of his family, were really the only parts of the film I liked, and it's kind of a shame too because I went into it for Ralph Ineson, Willem Dafoe, and Nicholas Hoult, and all three were wasted on a terribly mediocre screenplay.
