Is it better than the Odyssey?
>>221983092It's capeshit-tier comic book slop. But it's still Snyder's best and only halfway-decent work aside from that owl movie.
>>221983092What Seinfeld is to sitcoms this is to blockbuster action slop
>>221983092Easily, nolan can't do action choreography
>>221983092Yes. >>221983128How much credit to Snyder and how much to Frank miller?
>>221983092where's the trannies?
>>221983092Different styles.300 is very simple in its themes but the visuals are incredible.Nolan's Odyssey looks like shit and makes no sense in some parts, but its themes are more profound.
If I saw this nigger I'd be like "fuck that you can have Sparta"
>>221983092This movie had a black man in ancient Persia. How come you guys never seethe about it?
>>221983299>How much credit to Snyder and how much to Frank miller?Everything to Frank Miller. Snyder sucks.
>>221983203>You there, Newman. Hello.
>>221983092Its as inaccurate to the real thing as every othet Hollywood adaptation, but the comic book and and the movie were inspired by the propaganda tale of how it went down in Hot Gates so I guess it kinda works in the end, since the movie looks like a propaganda and in a way it is because it was made during the time when America had solders in Middle East. Still, its ages better than Nolan's Oddyshit, because 300 masculine fun and also looks fucking cool
>>221984448*is masculine fun
>>221983363that’s why no one will remember your name
>>221983363And that's why no one will remember your name
>>221983791He's also black in the comic. Complain to Frank Miller if you have a problem with it.
>>221984448So you thought you were spartans there lmao how easily manipulated Is the average burger?
>>221983791>reactionaries>having consistent values
It's far more faithful to its source material than Nolan would ever dream of being to his, so by that metric alone it's better. Most of the scenes are shot for shot remakes of the comic.

>>221983791Because Persia had blacks in it, dumbass. It conquered below the first cataract of the Nile into Kush (where the Egyptians used to raid for slaves). The empire absolutely had blacks in it. It was the biggest empire in history up until that point in time, which is why it was impressive that the Greeks fought back, and even won eventually.
>>221984602I wonder how people who read this comic before the movie came out imagined the delivery of that line in their head, because it seems more subdued here rather than an epic over the top WWE announcer kind of way
>>221984620Not an amerimutt, but the timing of 300s release was a tad too convienient in that context too. It depicted some white guys facing whatever freak and sandnigger that troon Xerxes unleased upon them, who eventually gave their lives to stand their ground to defeat the endless persian hordes and secure the western ideals. There were many propaganda movies meant to boost the american solders morale in the early 00s, like black hawk down, and I feel 300 falls into thar category as well
>>221983299>How much credit to Snyder and how much to Frank miller?Seriously anon, I'd suggest going and getting the frank miller comic. One of the few times where I'd advise getting a hard copy. But literally 100% of the comic is on the screen, and all of the gay shitty parts of the movie that bog it down was the shit they added to pad the run time.
>>221984899I thought only Arabs had black slaves
>>221983092Duh
>>221983092No, but it doesn't pretend to be anything other than wank material for 13 year old boys.
>>221983791What's wrong with that? Didn't set off my chud alarm at all
>>221983791He looked bad ass, clearly it wasn't propaganda
>>221983128Snyder's best movie is sucker punch thoughbeit at least it's his most goonfuel movie
>>221983092Synder is even more of a hack than nolan but 300 is just a way cooler and more captivating movie. Idk he must’ve caught extreme luck when he made this cause everything else he’s done is trash
onky nigger gets kicked into a bottomless pit so yeah
>>221983791no name messengerhelen of troygee what it could be the difference i wonder
>>221983092This is the best movie that it could have been, unapologetic bro capeshit that has a really define style and great big performances.Nolan's Odyssey will be forgotten within a few years whereas this will be enjoyed by dads and sons for decades.
>>221983092I haven't seen The Odyssey, but I imagine 300 has healthier themes. It is, without a doubt, one of the most propagandistic displays of revisionist history I have ever seen. I suppose you can kinda defend it by pointing out how it's tone is hyperstylized and it's framing narrative is intended as propaganda, but there's so many lines in there like the Spartans being the only free people to ever live that draw a ridiculous parallel with Sparta and America it's just too fucking ridiculous. And yet, there's so many memorable lines and imagery in it that you can't help but enjoy it and even the biggest lefty cucks know it. Some of them will even admit it. Back when the War of Terror was sweeping the nation, I definitely came away with a deep sense of ambivalence about the whole thing. Like, Persians were not orcs and Xerxes wasn't like a giant gold fucking gay S&M freak. My biggest problem with the movie was just how unstoppable the Spartans were. No enemy ever really challenged them. They made the Persians look like conplete retards in every scene until one if their own freaks betrays them. It was 300 Gary Stus. I wanted to see ancient armies clashing not wierd ogres with sword hands getting trampled like nothing. Also, the line about "Athenian boy lovers?" Oh, please, like the Spartans weren't the biggest faggots around. The sequel kinda tried to even things out a bit but it was so fucking stupid it wasn't even worth it.
>>221988151Wrong. There's also the guy who bribes the oracle with fresh girls being delivered from across the empire... daily.
>>221989415It was still a complete Persian strategic victory where every Spartan died to a man, just like in real life. I don't get the complaint. The fact it's framed as propaganda and a story within a story is also why you can have a good excuse for the Persians having all these whacky monsters on their side and the Spartans look awesome, it's like a fictionalized version of the events to pump up the other Greeks for the Battle of Plataea.
>>221983791Woke propaganda wasn't a thing in '06. The movie establishes that the Persian empire spans many lands with various people/cultures.
>>221988004Exactly. 300 is outstanding but every single other thing Snyder directed was pure shit. It must be that the source material made for a great movie like Sin City.
>>221983092Obviously.300 is an all time classic
>>221983092It’s the greatest capeshit ever made, yes that includes og spiderman
>>221989550>why you can have a good excuse for the Persians having all these whacky monsters on their sideThat was almost all from snyder. There weren't any monster-men in the comic and the biggest thing they do was use some war elephants. But the story we know about thermopylae is quite literally Spartan Propaganda, because on of the things the spartans TRULY excelled at was the marketing. And it worked because thousands of years later it becomes extremely hard to separate a lot of fact from fiction because the way people talked about the spartans at the time were usually based on the cool-as-shit stories they told about themselves. A lot of those pithy little comments the spartans make (You know, the laconic ones, the kind of smart ass cold blooded one-liner literally named for the spartan), are taken from various attributed quotes. The "Come and take them" and "Then we'll fight in the shade." were both things an actual mother fucker said in similar context. There is a reason men have been retelling the story of the 300 since it happened, the "Spartan" has become an archetype for Chadly Heroic behavior.
>>221983092That is the gayest film that I've ever seen from start to finish. I don't know why I'm the only one who sees it.
>>221983263This. Every single movie by Nolan has absolutely dogshit fight scenes.
