Its just done poorly because its the out of touch writers trying to make it bad or evil. They can't actually use the terms like a 4chan incel, they have to sanitize it and let everyone know such problematic ways of thinking are like heckin wrong.
the reason the terms come across as jarring is because they are fundamentally ironic and unserious. The problem is though, that they are used to describe real things, which is why it's 'accurate' to use them, but it's extremely idiotic, because much like how humour doesn't work when you change the context, so does a lot of slang
