The funniest part is it literally does nothing to change the story at all. You could cut this scene completely and nothing would be different. They literally are just forcing women into these stories to be more dynamic than they were meant to be.

During this part, Telemachus actually already knows that Odysseus is alive. He didn't mean to test Penelope, but he needs her to lure all the suitors together so Odysseus can kill them all in one swoop. I think Telemachus inadvertently getting to see his mother's true character is pretty based in a way.It's weird saying this but something pretty similar happened in the Dark Knight. Batman and Harvey Dent had a plan to trap the Joker by letting Dent be arrested by the police. But Rachel didn't believe in Batman and used that as a reason to marry Dent, despite promising to wait for him.I suspect that Nolan is secretly a chud and that he likes showing a woman's true character while masking it as girlboss scenes.
