>kicks off the modern AI horror genreWhat did you think of Ex Machina? Do you like the modern batch of AI horror movies that seems to be really blowing up right now? Favorites in the subgenre? Least favorites?
>>221987051ive had this on my "must watch" list for forever, is it any good?
>>221987122Its mid in every sense. It has some interesting scenes but you know exactly where its going to go right from the beginning. There are no real surprises. You can guess everything before it happens. All the reveals make you go "yeah, figures..."
>>221987122I loved it. It's one of those movies that I find so good I don't want to watch it too often because I don't want it to get old/boring.
>>221987170>it's mid because it didn't subvert my expectationsgo be a fag somewhere else, you fag
>>221987122it's only known for a dance scene
>>221987051Not bad.In my view, the concept is a more grounded version of terminator.
>>221987051>>221987122i enjoyed it. effects are good. story is gripping. naked robot titties. good endingit was good
>>221987205You are thinking of M3gan although that one could wind up getting a CU.
>>221987051Boring film school project tier movie, but the scenes with the robo slut and beta male were alright
>>221987051This unremarkable movie didn’t kick off shit, there has been AI horror in every decade for the last 60 years
>>221987395no ex machina also has a dance scene
>>221987551But M3gan is the one known for the dance scene.
>>221987170I expected it to subert my expectations like modern millennial slop, but instead it subverted my expections by not subverting them and it turned out to be an alright film that I enjoyed. And yes I would fuck the robots.
>>221987195That's not the same as a predictable plot anon. If the weak pervert man ended the movie dominating the innocent robot waifu and he got everything he ever want then it'd be subverting expectations for the sake of it.If from frame one of the house you can guess exactly how the plot will play out and it does in as straight forward manner as you could tell the story you get a Ex Machina.
typical indie slop with a whore trying to carry a film with her tits, her acting is bad, script and dialog are bad. concepts are interesting and unique, but very forced and clicheits like 7/10 movie that gets overrated by plebs
>>221987122i'd never call it one of my favourite movies but i can enjoy watching it anytime. it starts a little slow
>>221987470Yes but we are talking about the modern AI horror subgenre. Ex Machina does seem to be the start of that.
This subgenre is really blowing up.
>>221987051it's not really a "genre" so much as it is several movies just copying this exact one verbatim
ex machina was okay, but i prefer Upgrade
>>221987051https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCrfiNsqFbk watch petra
>>221987395
>>221989202I have seen it called AI Concept subgenre. I think that term is pretty good.
>>221989437No one is saying there is not a dance scene in Ex Machina. But to say it is the modern AI subgenre movie remembered for its dancing is ridiculous. That is M3gan.
>>221989202It's at least a subgenre.
>>221989437>haha he’s dancingamericans would literally clap if they saw an ape spinning they’re like children
>>221990223Maybe but not necessarily.
>>221989618Yep.
>>221987681>indie slopnigga how is something produced by Universal "indie"?
>>221987607>Hasn't been here long enough to remember how we had an immortal ex machina thread with the dance scene posted every single time
>>221989608>>221989618>Newfags when given context
west world was the real kino that was too much of a truth nuke for them to even keep on hbo maxex machina and companions were pretty entertaining tho
>>221992359>>221992394Fuck off. Or else.
