And you can tell because they made sure that every costume she was in had thick wrapping over her torso because they never wanted her chest to be prominent (not that it would, Daisy is very flat), so they used the costume to smooth her out and remove her female looks. It's also why in the very few scenes that she smiles, she looks so much nicer than her normal scowl/serious face. George knew that the whole point of a heroine in a film is that men wanted to romance them and women wanted to be them, and that made them memorable. Which is why Leia an Padme were always allowed to be attractive while also being heroic.
