A marketing campaign built solely on vibes and FOMO. Quite an accomplishment.
>>
I have chud cope thread fatigue.
>>
>>222098259
Highest grossing movie chuds hate.
Kill yourselves lmao
>>
>>222098332
No one actually liked this movie, even its fans forgot about it the moment they left the movie theater lol
>>
>>222098259
Nobody cares what online chuds think. Your powers have faded and your Orangeman is literally rotting in front of our eyes.
>>
>>222098432
Even the woke translator thinks it's trash. Throw in the towel, tranny.

I don't care what hard left feminist academics think. I'm not aware she has made a film in her life.
>>
the odyssey is an ancient story taught in schools with several film adaptations. I am still surprised to this moment chuds thought normies wouldn’t watch yet another odyssey movie with matt damon and made by the guy who did the batman movies
>>
>>222098259
How do you gather everyone hates it? Only a circle jerk bubble of chuds hate it.
>>
>>222098354
I just saw it and it's the best movie that's come out in years, at least to my knowledge, seethe and cope.
>>
>>222098354
I genuinely haven't stopped thinking about it since i saw it, i got one day off this week on saturday and im considering going to see it a second time
>>
>>222098259
Vibes and fomo wouldn't explain how it performed in the 2nd weekend.
If you've dislike it but you've seen it already, then you haven't missed out, you're not gonna go see it again
>>
>>222098322
No one will actually remember this movie in a few months
>>
>>222098969
>>222098917
That's fine but you're Indian
>>
Imagine the costs of shilling alone. Very commendable effort, I must say, but I don't think it's viable in the long run.
>>
>>222099002
No, I think it will have some cultural staying power comparable to Jackson's LotR trilogy. Since it has similar qualities of being a fantasy world/story with outlandish supernatural elements, but managing to feel believable and like it's inhabited by real people
>>
>>222099136
It didn't have staying power beyond its opening weekend
>>
>>222099014
1 billion in shilling easy. I've never seen hollwood work so hard to make everyone think people like this movie. It's embarrassing but also shows their panic.
>>
>>222099163
It literally did, though. It only dropped 30% in its second weekend which is almost unheard of. For big blockbusters which open above $100 mil, its second weekend was the third-best ever
>>
>>222099014
Word. I haven't seen astroturfing this heavy on /tv/ in years.
>>
>>222099004
Why are American ''men'' so mentally ill?
>>
>>222098259
Only chuds hate this, and they're literally not "everyone"
>>
>>222099249
Like I'll believe that will all the empty non-IMAX theaters. It's a masterpiece of manufactured success, I'll grant them that.
>>
>>222099267
>doesn't deny it
>>

I went to an 8 am Wednesday screening, and it was packed. When does astroturfing ever involve putting actual butts in seats that way?

Why are we abandoning the "Larry Fink bought all the tickets" narrative? Its a good defense.

I went to the 6 am screening today. Totally packed bros.

I'm glad the movie is actually good, its always nice when the board spam is about a movie I actually liked.

It's terrible though

nah I disagree

Finnish, hence I have no need of crying about minorities.

>It lacks psychological, emotional, political and ethical depth. Its narrative structure is gimmicky. The writing is abysmal. None of the characters has convincing motivation for their actions or words.
is this a review for nolan's the dark knight
>>
>>222099391
It doesn't matter. The movie actually doing well or not is completely irrelevant to the fact it's just a badly made movie. The immense shilling only further fuels the fire here. So many questions, no satisfying answers.
For some reason there needs to be severe gloating against chuds, regardless of the quality of the movie. It is highly intriguing.
They should've stayed on the Obsession train, would've been a lot cheaper and more believable.
>>
>>222099391
I'm not abandoning any explanation, everything about this movie glows

>>
>>222098463
In the same article, she's praising feminist retellings like "Penelopiad" and "Circe", both are utter trash.
>>

>For some reason there needs to be severe gloating against chuds, regardless of the quality of the movie. It is highly intriguing.
I use to just shitpost for the fun of it, but the hypocrisy of retards like you on here makes it feel like im doing it with purpose, thanks
>>
>>222098259
don't underestimate the "own the chuds" angle. Marketing fueled controversy so that all the performative types could demonstrate against racism by going to a movie.
>>
>>222098259
Even the insider media shills, the big trades, who praised this as the greatest movie ever made, are already rolling out articles saying basically it's not that good and only making money because of Nolan fanboys. I expected that to take at least four or six weeks to happen, and of course for award season they'd need to have to explain why it fails to get any. But it's happening less than two weeks in. Surprising.
I guess they're expecting this to drop off really fucking hard once Spider-man releases in a few days, and they want to get out ahead of it.
Anyway, if your entire ideology is based around having no opinions of your own and just desperately pretending to like whatever seems most popular at any given moment, so you are "on the right side of history", I can see why a single movie's box office would seem like a defeat for the other "team". But if you actually just want movies to be good, care about truth, and are able to form your own opinions and speak them proudly without shame, what matters is the trend, not any one result. This movie sucks, everyone knows it sucks, and the trend continues to punish these sorts of woke feminized deconstructed poory-written films devoid of lasting meaning. Nolanfags will continue to love whatever he puts out, though. Good for them I guess. But just try it with some lesbian black woman as writer or director and her movie will fail, same as always. And if woke is supposedly the reason why this Nolan film succeeded, then the opposite must be true when another woke film fails. You can blame the trades for pushing those rules now.
>>
>>222099136
You are delusional
What staying power did Openheimer have besides a few memes?
>>
>>222099937
How come they never show up for anything else then? Nolan movies are clearly a special case, for whatever reason, which means there's probably more going on and performative woketards aren't actually large enough of an audience to make an actual difference.
>>
I watched it and i can say

The casting didn’t bother me whatsoever. Maybe it’d feel a bit more kino if Athena and Helen were actually attractive but, it didn’t bother me at all.

I thought the movie as a whole was pretty fucking bland tho? Nothing had any weight whatsoever. It was like the rollercoaster at an amusement park that’s longer than all the others but it’s not the fastest or highest or steepest, maybe one or two loop-Di-loops. But it’s mostly just a very long, slightly entertaining ride to get your moneys worth before going on the really crazy roller coasters

Also omitting Achilles is kinda gay. I know Nolan avoided it cuz he was scared he couldn’t compete with the 2004 movie
>>
>>222100073
>omitting Achilles
Ellen Page plays Achilles. They changed it to Sinon in ADR at last minute. You can tell the characters are actually saying Achilles if you look at the mouth, and "Sinon" is only uttered by characters off-screen.
>>
>>222098259
I still need to watch it before I can confidently say I hate it.
>>
>>222098488
kek
>>
fuck chuds
>>
>>222098463
I saw the movie, I mostly liked it but she has a point. The dialogue was abysmal and made good actors look like shit at times
>>
>>222099825
I find the gloating hypocritical though. Seems very inorganic, hence the intrigue.
>>
>>222100124
Doesn’t matter, Achilles was still omitted, they didn’t include any scenes of Achilles in the sacking of Troy, they didn’t include Achilles in the underworld either. Which is fucking retarded, his exchange with Odysseus is one of the most important themes of the entire Poem
>>
>>222100223
i don't think you know what hypocritical means
>>
>>222100331
As I said, very inorganic.
>>
>>222100328
Which part of "it's Achilles but was renamed to Sinon at last minute" did you not understand?
>>
>>222100423
i think you are just really really dumb and mentally incapable of grasping the idea of people liking something you dont
>>
>>222100124
You could post unused footage of it instead of just claiming lip-reading.
>>
>>222099984
Very different types of movies. What staying power has any biopic ever really had? With Oppenheimer the staying power is more the real man and real history rather than the movie
>>
>>222098259
>highest grossing
Ignoring the fact they have been blatantly lying about the amount it’s made and jumped from 200 mil to 80 mil between opening and second weekend and then jumped to 600 over the weekend.
>>
>>222098259
Most of the highest grossing movies are bottom of the barrel dogshit like Avatar, Titanic and capeshit
This isn't anything new
>>
>>222101334
I would like to see that.
>>
>>222098259
With all the effort to push a narrative on the success of this, I didn't bother looking at the numbers until now and LMAO. I stupidly assumed people were being honest. I actually know better, so I guess that's on me.
It's doing worse than Captain Marvel. Bodes poorly for profitability since they spent way more on making this and marketing it, and it has no Endgame to prop it up.
$900 million is the likely break even point, in case anyone didn't know. That's with the real budget numbers and added panic marketing after the backlash to the trailers, and the international return being significantly lower than domestic. Nolan always does better overseas. It's actually not a good thing unless the domestic numbers are good enough to carry a film on its own, because less of the money comes back to the studio. And they overspent on this. An absurd budget. What the fuck were they thinking?
Anyway, they needed to make about 25% more on opening weekend than they did to have a chance. The second weekend hold is good, certainly, but not good enough if the bulk of the ticket sales are international. This won't have legs. Especially since the media is starting to turn against it already so soon. The big story going into the third weekend, when they're up against Spider-Man, is that the Odyssey is a boring slog and even the feminist translator is trashing it. This isn't online commentators saying it, this is the Hollywood Reporter and Variety and the like.
Everybody celebrated way too soon on this one.
