Letterman 1986-1988 is the actual best talk show comedy run of any host.Watch every full episode you can. I personally never cared about the guests just the bits and the bits and lettermans personality at the time are perfect. They won the Peabody and Emmy award during those years, and Chris Elliott did one sketch a week.

Never understood talk shows like letterman etc.He wasn't funny and then when he had guests on they wouldn't ask them anything remotely interesting. But for some reason i kept watching him. I miss Craig Ferguson, I never laughed like that at any other show on TV. I used to work a shitty wagie job where I'd work late and his show was the first thing to come on when I got home. I remember watching Tom Snyder after Letterman for a few years. It made me feel like a sophisticated adult.
