>was obsessed with late night TV when I was in jr high and high school
>watched Letterman, Leno, Conan, Carson Daly, Jimmy Kimmel, and sometimes Craig Ferguson.
>DVR'd whichever shows I didn't watch when they aired so I could watch them the next day
>loved the idea of being a late night talk show host
>had a copy of an old Tonight Show Band CD
>would play a song and then walk into my room, wave, crack some jokes, and then do an improved monologue
>would sit at a card table in my room and pretend to interview celebrities
>did my own version of sketches like Will It Float by filling up the bathtub or sink and dropping stuff in it
Did any of you guys have weird TV obsessions?

I only liked Conan and Kilborn because they were the only non-jews in late nite
>>
>>222106960
Early Conan was funny.

Oprah, Uma.
Uma, Oprah.

I watched WWF during attitude era and imagined running into the ring to my intro music.
>>
>>222107304
you weren't a real WWF chad if you never cut a promo on your mom (I did this and got banned from watching wrestling for a month)
>>
Letterman 1986-1988 is the actual best talk show comedy run of any host.
Watch every full episode you can.
I personally never cared about the guests just the bits and the bits and lettermans personality at the time are perfect. They won the Peabody and Emmy award during those years, and Chris Elliott did one sketch a week.

>cut a promo on your mom
What does this mean?
>>
>>222107353
I cut a promo all over your mom's face, jabroni.

Cutting a promo is when you give a monologue or statement calling someone out or trash talking them.

I had my own wrestling name "Slammin' Benny" and talked about myself in the third person "Slammin' Benny says so" type stuff. My mom told it was bedtime and I needed to brush my teeth. I told her Slammin' Benny stays up ALL NIGHT and that she'd get slammed if she tried to stop me.

>Slammin Benny
You went into gay porn didn't you?

No

Plus the jew fro, yeah I was surprised too

Did you ever make it on late night TV?
>>
I would watch a ton of sitcoms because of Nick at Night. Roseanne is still the best family oriented sitcom IMO.

Boomer slop.

Nothing beats 80's Letterman, go watch Ridiculousness you fuck you

Never understood talk shows like letterman etc.
He wasn't funny and then when he had guests on they wouldn't ask them anything remotely interesting. But for some reason i kept watching him. Probably because there wasn't much else on and we only had a couple of channels at the time.

Nick at Night in the mid 2000s to early 2010s loved to spam George Lopez and Full House, but occasionally show Home Improvement, The Nanny, Family Matters and Malcolm in the Middle.
>>
>>222109304
I remember the first block of it being Cosby Show, Roseanne, and Full House.
>>
for a couple of years when i was young i was convinced i was being filmed, after a while i started thinking they were also reading my mind so i went from talking by myself to just communicating with them with my thoughts, i guess it was because of this movie but i can't be sure, childhood is too blurry now

>Letterman 1986-1988
That's oddly specific, sell me on this a bit more and i might watch it.

Conan Ferguson and Kilborn were great
I can't talk about 90s conan but for me peak conan is 2003/4 until getting ousted from the tonight show.
I hate the fact that this happened and we then became stuck with Jimmy Fallon. Who is objectively next to Jimmy Kimmel as the worst late night host.
Not a trump fan Kimmel has pissed me off with his holier than thou crybaby men need to do better bullshit when the only reason he has a career was the man show.
>>
I miss Craig Ferguson, I never laughed like that at any other show on TV. I used to work a shitty wagie job where I'd work late and his show was the first thing to come on when I got home. It was comfy as fuck watching the late late show.

Whoever exec's idea it was to replace him with fucking James Corden of all people should be flogged, tarred and feathered. I am still pissed.
>>
I remember watching Tom Snyder after Letterman for a few years. It made me feel like a sophisticated adult.
>>
Late night TV talk shows really benefited from a lack of other late night entertainment options
>>
>>222106854
Once upon a time, late night TV was funny and worth yours.
>>
>>222106854
My freshman to junior years of high school (2009 to 2011) were ruined by:
>Daily Show
>Colbert Report
>Conan
>Tonight Show with Jay Leno
>Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
>Naruto Shippuden
>porn on Wikipedia (not kidding)
