I liked Rise a lot and this disappointed me. I hope Wrath is better.
>>222132906Yeah Burn was really bad. Also trying to make it a semi-sequel to Rise but also set up a direct Rise sequel made it feel even more pointless
>>222133079I didn't like the few unnecessary comedic scenes it had. The transition between the crash and the fat woman twerking was jarring. The inconsistencies bothered me a lot too. This is supposed to be a sequel but on Rise the recording said there is no cure. No way to revert the summoning, nothing works and they will not stop until everyone is dead. But in here they had extra pages describing some magic dagger that separates the demon from the body. Dismembering works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't.
>>222133310>I didn't like the few unnecessary comedic scenes it had.Ironically, most people complained that it wasn't funny enough, and just down right mean. I chalk it up to the deadites being on point and actually having a job to do this go around, compared to their usual generic fuckery.
>>222133310tbf the magic dagger is from the original films but it seems poorly implemented here as a fix all >>222133368I somewhat agree with the criticism. Evil Dead is like the perfect balance between goofy and body horror. Honestly only Raimi, as the creator, does it right.
I really did not like how they handled the main girl and her story at all. It sucks that her husband was abusive and her in laws are assholes to her, but it's hard for me to give a shit about her when she has no personality and no characterization besides being abused and French. Normally I wouldn't care about flat uninteresting characters in a horror movie like this, but the movie clearly wants you to care about her with how much it dwells on her abuse. She has no agency and everything just happens around her. The original Ready or Not movie handled the awful in laws thing much better where the in laws getting theirs in the end was fun and cathartic.
I thought Alice was insufferable.
The gf deadite was the best part of the film, and she barely had any screentime.
>>222132906I didn't even know it was out.Rise was okay I guess but I don't really like the more serious attempts at Evil Dead. Also it's weird that they haven't even tried to have an Ash-like character. Obviously no one can top Bruce, but I'd rather have a new recurring protagonist with a story that grows instead of these little one off soft-remakes.
