Spielberg had the hunger in the 70s. Jaws wrecked him hard but its success gave him a drive to do his 80s stuff with Indy and ET. But by then everyone was sucking his dick and he became a business man when he started Dreamworks. He had all the success and everyone worshipping him, and that takes away the hunger to make good movies. Same thing happened to Lucas in the 90s.
