They only went through the text messages before she was killed, which explain the context. We only NOW found out Celeste was supremely jealous of d4vd hanging around Aysia. D4vd has this clique of LA dorks he hung around with, and they play a role in the story. No doc is going to touch them since they are not directly involved in the trial. But the prelims just exposed Aysia as being involved. It sounds like a love triangle situation and d4vd solved it by killing one of the angles.
