The Odyssey is proof that art and pop culture are obsolete. Everything is just politics anyway, so why bother making movies? Why not just directly bicker about politics instead of bothering with the middleman that is "art"?
>>222139053I liked the odyssey, I watched a version that I day dreamed over the course of a few hours and I enjoyed it a lot
>>222139053Art is magic. There is a reason so many people learn to resist and stay away from it.
>>222139053Whatever Nolan makes isn't an art.
>>222139181It's the human version of AIslop
>>222139053The same shit is going on with Obsession. People actually used to be able to have personal relationships and experiences with movies, now they only experience the overwhelming amount of social media and discourse that goes with it. The boogeyman of straight white males looms over everything like Michael Myers, a specter haunting all media until they are annihilated, ripped into pieces and burned to make sure they never come back.
>>222139053Normal people go out to see a movie based on whether they think they will get entertained. You oth don't even pay and just pirate. That's why what you think will never matter.
>>222139196It's crazy because it all really *is* about race and sex, though. I can't really view movies through an apolitical lens after viewing Wyatt Stagg's video essay on Once Upon a Time in the West. I have a feeling that movies were like this even before social media, but nobody noticed. Once the Hollywood monoculture collapsed in the 2010s in favor of sectarian identity politics it became clear entertainment was always about politics, it's just that nobody noticed because it was better produced and less aggressive in hindsight.
>>222139053>aren't you guys demoralized by the forum sliding bad actors spamming the board No. I saw the movie today. I liked it, the theater was mostly full at noon on a tuesday in a theater with a broken AC, everyone in the theater seemed pretty engaged. Not a perfect movie, Nolan really needs to fuck off with the nonlinear editing. I found the editing really choppy in the beginning but it smooths out as the movie goes on. The Odysseus' dog has more screen time and relevance to the plot than the nig and the tranny combined.
>>222139395>muh screen timeCan you stop with this stupid argument, nobody even expected Helen to have significant screen time as she barely even appears in Homer's Odyssey. Her casting is still significant though. Not to mention that Odysseus' multiracial crew is on screen for most of the movie.
>>222139526>w-who ever complained about black helen?New cope just dropped.
>>222139573People complained about her casting but nobody expected her to take up a bunch of screen time, yes. Also, stop larping as a leftist.
>>222139630>terminal direction brain ngmi
>>222139673>I use leftist talking points but I'm nooot a leftist!!!
>>222139053Major chud loss. Complete and utter egg on their collective incel faces. The first of many such instances to come in 2026.
>>222139053Battleship Potemkin is proof that art and pop culture are obsolete.Everything is just politics anyway, so why bother making movies? Why not just directly bicker about politics instead of bothering with the middleman that is "art"?
>>222139053Subverting expectations is not a good thing
>>222139395Sineon was like fourth most important character there. Above Captain Shitter and Menelaus for sure
The Academy Awards have to change the rules or people have to stop watching Hollywood movies. This is unprecedent racism
>>222139395>I saw the movie today. I liked it, the theater was mostly full at noon on a tuesday in a theater with a broken AC, everyone in the theater seemed pretty engaged.the theater:
>>222140173Soviets weren't carried by art and soft power. Their three main cultural exports were:>blatant government propaganda like Eisenstein>subtly anti-communist films like Tarkovsky's, who faced censorship and went to exile>politically inconvenient samizdats which had to be smuggled out of the countryIn contrast the Western Bloc's cinema was far more varied, more aloof, less didactic, less policed, less censored, less self-consciously politicized, with more mass appeal, and this is why Hollywood by itself carried so much of American soft power in the Cold War
>>222139053
>>222139181This. He's no different from a Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich. He just implements slower editing.
It's really fucking funny that all the conservative news networks knew this movie was going to be successful, but had to rail against it and pretend it was going to fail just to get a boost in their ratings from it.
>>222141482Of course it was going to be successful, it's Nolan. Better not criticize him then!
I like CONSOOOOMING CONSOOOOMING is okay when a woman does it because I'm an Indian simp
>>222141138How about a plato deese nuts
>>222139053OR we could actually tell compelling, creative human stories.
This is a very shit take but in my opinion The Odyssey is successful because the only other films people are talking about are made by YouTubers. Backrooms and Obssession. Then you have the cape slop. Supergirl and the Avengers. This is a renowned director putting his dick on the table and reminding people who really runs Hollywood
>>222139053the whole point of movies is propaganda and it works magnificently
>>222139053Have you considered not being fuck, OP?
>>222139053>Reductive NPCs really think expression and storytelling are for the algos
>>222139053or just make movies again, and stop doing forced woke shit. Movies were better before lefty politics became the main goal. It’s why other forms of media are better atm.
>>222143544any picture he makes is going to meet best picture a-d rules anon.
>>222139053people are just fanboys of nolan the movie is shit and he put niggers and trannys in there on purpose to shit on greeks, white poeple will eat up goyslop as long as its a famous name
>>222139053Normies arent completely botbroken by the internet
