It's really baffling, especially since it's only the second movie he's done since 2011 that isn't capeslop. It'd make more sense if he just did capeshit - minimal work, unbelievable paychecks, character that he can slip into like a glove, universal praise and adoration - but if he wanted to do other stuff why this?
