I just finished Tenet, can someone explain it to me? I didn't really understand it. Why is anything in the movie happening? Why were many lines overridden by audio?
FUCK NOLAN KILL NOLAN BEHEAD NOLANI'M NOT EVEN GONNA READ THE POST BUT NOLAN HATE IS ALWAYS JUSTIFIED
>>222140801Its not that deep. Its james bond with a silly time travel gimmick. The dialogue isn't that important.
>>222140801People in the future are mad at the people in the past for destroying the planet so they send a weapon back through time to be discovered by a guy who wants to end his life and the world along with it.
>>222140827I apologize for not making another Obsession thread even though the actress would have been a better leading lady.I wish Inde Navarrette played the protagonist in Tenet instead of John David Washington
>>222140860Why didn't they just send time travelers back in time? If the world was already doomed then doesn't this just make it doomed earlier? Like what was that supposed to solve?
>>222140801>>222140842>>222140860>>222140933Don't try to understand itFeel it
>>222140884>John David Washingtonhe's not a terrible actor, but he's not a leading man either. few stand up to his father, Denzel.
>>222141386>Don't try to understand it>Feel itProtagonist was basically a human reverse-fired bullet. My big problem is I just found the whole time-reversal gimmick to be not nearly interesting enough to carry the movie, and nolan's action scenes are already sloppy and incomprehensible that the dumb backwards man stuff just made it even more of a headache. Though it did have one thing that made me go "Dude weed!" when i thought about it for a few seconds. In the big dumb forward-backwards battle there is a huge pile of rubble that gets hit by a reverse-rocket and reconstructs into a building that gets blaster with a regular-rocket immediately and collapses back into rubble, and its a weird paradox where this building has always existed as rubble except for 10 seconds in the middle of the battle of odlid.
>>222140801>Why were many lines overridden by audio? There was only one sequence in which this was the case and if you can't figure out why it was happening I don't know what to tell you.
>>222140933A person can't travel back through time too far because the "time travel" is just things moving backwards through time at a normal pace so someone in the far future traveling backwards would die of old age before they got to where they're supposed to be so it only works on traveling within your lifetime and inanimate objects.
>>222141537The audio mix on tenet was genuinely fucked. Nolan hates ADR almost as much as he hates second takes.
>>222141577That makes sense, but I thought it was just a few generations?>If the world was already doomed then doesn't this just make it doomed earlier? Like what was that supposed to solve? What about this question. The other thing is how can electronics work, can I take my phone and send messages like steins gate and shit with d mail.
>>222141537I could barely hear anything the whole movie and had to use subtitles. I was able to handle most of Nolan's other films just fine, but this was was insanely bad with the music and sound.
>>222141657It's more than 100 years or so which is when the technology to reverse time for objects was created and beyond anyone there's lifetime, but they sent the the ability to replicate the technology back through time so that people in the present could do it too. Some of the people were doing it to help the bad guy destroy the world in the past, but others defected and were helping the good guys.>If the world was already doomed then doesn't this just make it doomed earlier? Like what was that supposed to solve?>What about this question. It's more about the destruction of the environment so if they could kill off humanity in the past, then the environment wouldn't be so damaged in the future.>The other thing is how can electronics work, can I take my phone and send messages like steins gate and shit with d mail.Stuff moving backwards moves exactly the same as it does when its moving forward and the only thing that changes is when backwards and forwards moving things interact with each other. So someone moving backwards though time needs to have air to breathe that also moving backwards.
Nolan was a coward for not keeping the blazing saddles scene where they ate reverse-beans.
>>222141872>Hey Neil, how come there is no food in the cupboards, just empty opened cans? And why does my stomach feel weird?
>>222141789So can they use microwave dmail bananas or not? That would have seemed like a much better approach than doing what they tried to do by eliminating humanity.Although I guess why not send a nuke back to certain countries instead? If environmentalism is such a concern, then there are a few countries to send back a nuke to, which would course correct pretty easily.Seems bizarre that they would choose russia for some reason when their environment is already a barren wasteland of snow and vodka
>>222140801You need to watch all the scenes in reverse after your first watching. The option is buried in the bluray.
>>222142155They can't directly communicate with the past so they do it though messages or using cryptic means because there's people working counter to their plans and vice versa.I don't think it's really explained what the device is supposed to do. Like just kill off humanity so the environment survives or destroy everything regardless and like maybe things will grow back without people around. They sent the stuff to the Russian guy because it was after the Soviet Union fell and he was a good candidate to find the stuff and build his business out of with little outside interference to make sure he succeeded and because he eventually would want to end his life anyway because he's Russian.
>>222142155I think the future people plot is more metaphorical than anything. People using up things and getting old desperate to avoid death, so they go back in time and fuck up their kids.
>>222141577The wont make into old age if they stay on rewind mode. The rewinding world has weird atmosphere as well, which is very detrimental to one's body. This is why they use masks to breeve. Sending someone back to the past via that way its impossible
>>222140801>can someone explain it to meno
Basically Chirstopher Nolan should not be making mpvies. that's what this movei was about
>>222140801Well you see all the rabbits like nibbling lettuceSo he brings them some carrots
>>222143071>somehow making a time machine is possible>but somehow making a human live through time travel is not possible>why?>ITS MY MOVIE AND I MAKE THE RULES TURN YOUR BRAIN OFF AND ENJOY THE RIDElol okay bro, I'm sure there can't possibly be a machine that rewinds rewinds time within a rewind machine to make air breathable. I'm also sure there can't be a reverse air compression somehow someway that would allow this to occur. It is fiction after all, which is the problem with Tenet as a film in general. When you start making bat shit things come out of nowhere without explanation, then alternatives that can come out of nowhere without explanation also become feasible.
It’s funny how both 2010 and 2020 had Nolan release sci-fi kinos. Wonder what 2030 will bring, he’s done mind travel and time travel so what’s next?
>>222143206soul travel
>>222143206some multiverse shit probably
>>222140801You can't instantly go backwards through time because of entropy or some shit, so some future humans figure out how to reverse entropy to travel back so they can end the world because they hate the past humans for making the world turn to shit or some stupid shit like that. The main character creates a time loop by finding the organization that recruited him after going through the movie's plot.
>>222143206he does a time-focused movie every 10 years or so>memento - 2000>inception - 2010>tenet - 2020
>>222140801What's the problem OP? It helps if you watch the film backwards if you're having trouble tracking an event.. Audio. Not sure, but maybe his hearing is going. His new, heavily shilled piece of shit odessey movie has even worse audio mixing. My theater has it's sound set to hearing damage range at well over 110 db at multiple points in the movie. Use subtitles.>>222142388>>222142155>>222142443The backpack nuke is not just strictly a "nuke". It reverses entropy, and most importantly disconnects the future from the past. The effect would be making EVERYTHING run backwards in time, so the future people don't have to live in hell where everything is used up, but can go BEYOND when the weapon is used in the past. The james bond secret squirrel shit is there because the future has historians who are watching shit from the past, and will react by sending shit into the past to affect things. The future doesn't believe in the grandfather paradox: so they think that going back in time and killing their own grandfather as a child, doesn't affect them. The Architect, the woman who builds the Entropy nuke does and thinks it will blow up the future.Shit I don't think EVER gets explained: How the 9 magic boxes get moved to the past. How they get moved further back and hidden. Who the fuck built the time turnstiles.>>222143101I think he needs a tard wrangler with properly working hearing. >>222143206>>222143391>>222143282Memento is broken time, inception is multiple, paralell timelines running at different speeds, interstellar is time dilation at relativistic speeds, tenent is backwards time hitting forwards time. Inception should count as it's own multiverse thing.I think he should do a film dynamicaly generated from the picture timelines of every celphone owner in the audience. It will be like Uwe Bol, sniffing the ashes of Kubrick trying to remake back to the future.
>>222143282>parallel dimensions kino from nolanMan I can't wait.
