Where the fuck did this come from. Clark said off hand, at the beginning of the FIRST session we've ever seen, that he hurts people and he can't help it that it's just the way he's wired. Here, at the END of the fucking movie, she says his problem is blaming his brain and that "You are your fucking brain". When the fuck did he ever object to that? Is there a deleted scene where he repeated the "It's just the way I'm wired" line and this makes sense?

The whole "stop blaming all of your faults on therapyspeak bullshit" thing is a good message but it didn't feel earned at all in this movie. Clark genuinely, OBJECTIVELY got fucked over by life and didn't really seem to be doing much of that blaming everything else for his own problems thing she was talking about, he seemed exclusively pissed off at his wife because she ruined his life. They should have just cut all of the therapist's backstory honestly, and given more screentime to Clark, maybe an extra therapy session and/or some flashbacks. Clark's psychology is what actually drives the plot forward and is core to the movie, hers was mostly pointless flavor aside from justifying why she had a rock in her pocket(that barely did anything).Also, the monster design was genius. You'd THINK that being in the backrooms you'd be safe from pirates, since you're not on the ocean, but you'd be dead wrong!

>>222147509I'm convinced there were a lot of scenes cut that had to do with the therapist/ending. why does he kidnap her? why does he act like she totally insults him on the level of the ending when she asks simple questions when he's asking about being 5150ed? i suspect there was a scene where she calls the backrooms a stupid delusion or something but it was cut to make her seem like a better person but it breaks the sequence of events. I also suspect there was supposed to be more to the scene where she finds him in the backrooms where she tries to get him to leave and says she'll come back with more people when he says he's not going to leave. This would make the kidnapping make sense instead of just doing it because she's there. But again it makes her look even worse if she's insulting him in this way after having driven him away and then trying to take away his happy place indirectly.Though I still think it's fine for her to insult him at this point because it's clear moments later that she has nothing really left to say to him to help so insulting was her last ploy.

I feel like that's why they got a real writer to work on it with him but it's also why it didn't work out completely well. I'd like to see a version where Kane writes it all himself because I imagine it will just be people running around the backrooms the whole time for better or worse.
